Re: Is Sport mode "worth it"?

With my 2012 Overland with Hemi sport mode really pulls hard through the gears, much as I would do using paddles. I use it once in a while as there is a fuel penalty.

My friend has the V6 and he...

Re: Pushing 7K Overland Report

My friend's Overland has over 20K on it and he has no rattles. I have two, but I expect the dealer to do something about it.

I also have a Subaru, it's a Legacy GT Turbo. I don't think there is a...

Pushing 7K Overland Report

First the problems!

1) Sunroof rattles or makes a glass against metal sound over bumps. Had it fixed once, but it returned.
2) There is a sound like a marble rolling around behind the dash on ...

Re: WK2 Test Drive

I drove the X5. It's a great road going SUV, just like a Audi Q5 or Lexus or....well, you get the idea.

But it can't go offroad to save it's life. It can't even TOUCH the WK2's abilities. If you...

Re: Are you unhappy with your engine choice?

I've got a 2012 Overland with the Hemi. 0-60, as documented elswhere, is as low as 6.9 seconds. If I punch it my GC leaps forward, so generally take it easy.
If yours is behaving differently...

Re: Who has driven both V6 & V8 WK2's

The problem is misleading people because you own the V6 and have a complex about it.

The V6 is not better in ANY way accept for MPG. That's it.

Two hours ago some nut in a Nissan Titan started...

Re: Who has driven both V6 & V8 WK2's

It's not PC to say that, but of course that's the truth. No one would EVER bother with the V6 accept for the MPG. It's fair at best and adequate is the nicest thing anyone will say about it. The Hemi...

Re: Who has driven both V6 & V8 WK2's

Buy what you want, but a maxed out Hemi powered Overland or Overland Summit isn't just a frilled out version of the GC, it's a more evolved and capable off-road/on-road machine. It competes directly...

Re: Who has driven both V6 & V8 WK2's

That efficiency translates into not-enough power and is meaningless. There are other engines that are more efficient, but that does not make them the better choice for a heavy SUV.
The V6 may be a...

Re: Who has driven both V6 & V8 WK2's

The Hemi is faster, stronger, quieter, more refined and makes the GC more versatile>>>>

This is not a MIX of fact and opinion. It's PURE fact.

The Hemi is FASTER, significantly so!
The Hemi...

Re: Who has driven both V6 & V8 WK2's

I have spent a lot of time in my friend's V6 Overland. There is absolutely NO WAY it is quieter than the Hemi. Every time the V6 has to work it sounds terrible. Above 75 it's much busier. The V8 is...

Re: Are you unhappy with your engine choice?

So far the Hemi leads, which is surprising since I expected a LOT more people here had the V6.

I think I'll order a Hemi badge!

Re: Who has driven both V6 & V8 WK2's

Oh, and if he's getting 11 MPG he needs to go back to the dealer. I can't make our Hemi dip below 15 even around town, nailing the gas on hills!

We drove 445 miles on a tank last week with a bit...

Re: Who has driven both V6 & V8 WK2's

I'm sorry, but that's the kind of PC statement that just isn't true.

The TRUTH is that the V8 is the BETTER engine. So let me define BETTER as it applies to an SUV.

1) It's able to get the...

Re: Who has driven both V6 & V8 WK2's

It's true....no one will change my mind. Drove both enough to know the hemi is better. Not just "different." That's what the V6 owners want to push, like bad politics. The V6 has just one advantage...

Re: Who has driven both V6 & V8 WK2's

Opinions are best when based on FACTS.

V6 4x4 Laredo weight = 4660
V8 4x4 Overland Weight = 5210

If you think the V6 won't notice the extra hundreds of lbs you're wrong. There's a BIG...

There's just no way anyone with any driving experience would not...

Re: Who has driven both V6 & V8 WK2's

I get 20-22 MPG on the highway. That's using adaptive cruise control with two adults and one child in the car. The Overland is a good deal heavier than...

Assuming you don't get wheel spin you might really fly, but I'd expect a nice advantage at speed, from 60-90 MPH.

Re: Who has driven both V6 & V8 WK2's

As I pointed out, people STOMP on the V6 to get it up and moving. The V8 rarely needs that and that's why I see so many MPG reports...
