Re: WK2 Trip - San Juan Mountains

There are some steepish portions of that road the last mile, but mostly 2WD. There is a nice little rock outcrop covering half the road 1/8 of mile or so from the top. See my post #51 on this...

Re: WK2 Trip - San Juan Mountains

It's been a few years since that incident with Hertz but it seems like those agencies seem to consider crossovers to be like SUVs. I'd be a little leery of any vehicle that doesn't have 4Lo gearing....

Re: WK2 Trip - San Juan Mountains

Depends on what your rental company considers a mid size SUV. I reserved just that description of a vehicle from Hertz and got a something like a PT Cruiser! I was like, WTF? Even came complete...

Re: WK2 Trip - San Juan Mountains

My favorites in terms of fun, scenic, minimal chance of damage except maybe a skid plate:

1. Imogene Pass - From Ouray to Telluride. Prettier on the Ouray side, steeper. I also like to hit...

Re: WK2 Trip - San Juan Mountains

Sorry, have not been on here in a while, but I agree with Denis4x4's response. I have seen WK2s do Blackbear on another board, but have not done it myself. That initial approach down The Steps...

Re: WK2 Trip - San Juan Mountains

I just got back from Ouray in the last couple of weeks and did most of the Alpine Loop, Ouray to Telluride via Imogene again, etc. Didn't do Mineral Creek, we hit Engineer from Silverton, went to...

Re: WK2 Trip - San Juan Mountains

Those are Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 2 tires. P265/60R18. They have 24,000 miles on them now. They've been pretty good both on and off road, not a very aggressive tread pattern so they have been...

Re: My little trip to Ouray in the new Jeep over the long weekend.

Fantastic pictures and a great choice in trails. We were there in mid June or so but couldn't reach Imogene Pass itself due to snow. Always love that view of Black Bear Pass from Imogene in Telluride...

Very interesting read and your error was like mine, occurred in 4Lo, but, I Do not think I lost drive to the front wheels. Again, I was on different terrain, rocky steep mountain pass.

I've...

Re: STUCK IN SAND with 4WD malfunction

This whole thing is very puzzling. On the one one hand, you have cases like mine where I have both found myself in very treacherous muddy roads in rural Oklahoma, clay slick muddy mess like you...

Re: STUCK IN SAND with 4WD malfunction

I just had my 2011 WK2 in following a Service 4WD light illuminate but I was not in sand, different situation. Dealer applied several TSB's including the 08-34-12 which several members have said...

24K miles as of today. No issues so far. As I mentioned in some other posts, I've been places where it has come in handy.

Re: 2011 WK2 Summit: Hill Decent

:) Maybe the 2012's have some sort of newtonian dampening system that changes the apparent mass of the vehicle that the 2011's didn't have.

Mine seems to be impacted by gravity well enough. ...

Re: 2011 WK2 Summit: Hill Decent

Thought I might add that the hill descent control is really for off-road use only, i.e. the need for 4LO being a requirement. Max speed is 20mph or less or less than 20mph, I forget. I have heard...

I just...

Re: WK2 Hemi vs V6 MPG Compilation (results inside)

I think aside from terrain, driving style has the most to do with the mileage numbers. I drive 45 miles per day all week. Of that about 15 is suburban City traffic and 30 is 70mph interstate. I...

I don't think you made a mistake, especially with only 5K miles per year. That's probably only about a 1/3 of what the average user would put on a vehicle. If you're driving only 5K miles per year,...
