Not on a WK2, but I once had this happen on another vehicle. The cause in that case was low brake fluid. Perhaps unlikely in your case, but it's a quick check to rule it out.

That is correct. All EcoDiesels have plenty of regen cycles occurring silently. What I *don't* encounter is the emergency regen warning messages (the ones that tell you to "Drive at Highway Speed")....
