When i had an issue similar to this, it was my PCM starting to go out. Just another thought if you're proving that it might actually not be hot.

We just had one of these situations. Ours was in the lower corner. Couldnt be seen unless we took it out. Just replaced the radiator.

Not sure if its related, but I had trans over temp when my PCM was starting to fail. Replacing it resolved the issue. Mine was covered under warranty.
