Re: 2012 or 2013 Overland

Yeah, I definitely agree on the frustrating NAV. I am waiting for the following to come out: #CES 2015: Parrot RNB6, the most connected in-vehicle infotainment system | Parrot news...

Re: Future showdown?

x2 on that. As a former Jag owner absolutely never again. We like to complain about our GCs here but that is absolutely nothing compared to what a luxury British car will put you through. And FYI...

Re: Need To Vent

In other news, when I compared upgrades in Porsches and Mercedes to the same items in my Jeep they cost multiples more. In fact, in the Porsche Macan the additions are what raise the car from an...

Re: 2016 to get twin turbos?

The hemi is a solid engine that is reliable and for the performance you get is reasonably efficient. You can further increase performance and efficiency with DI and such. But turbos are a way to...

Re: 2016 to get twin turbos?

I stand corrected, but again, starting at $70k, which means $80k+ with any decent options. So SRT will likely be the cheapest realistic option and will still cost a hefty sum (and likely to cost...

Re: No love for diesels in UK and France.

Yes, but politics in Europe are not as favorable towards individual property rights as they are in the US. Yes, a tax incentive, perhaps combined with an increased registration fee on older diesel...

Re: 2016 to get twin turbos?

I'm actually starting to consider a Tesla because I can't imagine we will get both performance and long term reliability with all these turbos and hybrid systems. The turbos add stress to the...

Re: 2016 to get twin turbos?

I've got bad news for you guys: almost no one on that list has V8s anymore. M class killed the V8s this year except for the AMG, Porsche switched the Cayennes and Macans to turbo v6s (except the...

Re: 2015 Editorís Choice Awards, Mid-Size SUV: GC !

This is 100% correct. When it works I absolutely love it and they demonstrate why they are a good value even at the top end $50-60k pricetag. But when they break you will wish you didn't drop large...

Re: Used 2013 vs New 14 or 15

Don't forget the advanced tech package. You will still miss the hemi, the front park sensors, and the upgraded sound system of the Summit.

Re: Used 2013 vs New 14 or 15

Re: Sales - v6 vs hemi vs diesel?

A $300 tuner will make a difference for the Hemi as well. Just stating that the hemi can be pushed very far with available mods and that it makes no sense to compare a stock hemi to a modded diesel....

Seems like an unreasonable comparison. Wouldn't you need to compare a modded hemi to a modded diesel? Hemi has a ton of room for improvement. In fact, if you're REALLY ambitious you can even add a...

I'm sorry, but I'm going to disagree. We have someone that actually ran the numbers here to show that you're not coming out ahead on cost vs the V6. And the hemi is more than a little faster stock...

Re: Sales - v6 vs hemi vs diesel?

Diesel 0-60 is 7.8 seconds. That is pretty mediocre. Especially when you consider that the regular V6 is 7.5.

Re: Sales - v6 vs hemi vs diesel?

I don't think it is because "Americans are stupid." I think it is because you're talking about a 3.0L Turbo V6, which costs more than the hemi but has far worse characteristics like 0-60. If it was...

Re: Sales - v6 vs hemi vs diesel?

That's a great follow up question. If Hemis account for 30% of Overland/Summit orders and Diesels make up another 10-20% then that is significant information, even if it is basically zero for...

Re: V-6 or V-8, regrets?

The RR that puts the hemi to shame is a supercharged V8, not the supercharged V6. I would certainly welcome a supercharged V8. The supercharged V6 on the RRS gets times similar to the hemi, as does...
