Re: Grand Cherokee vs the new Range Rover Sport

Do I need it? No, I've had 2WD cars before. But 4WD is objectively better even on dry roads and since the money is immaterial, it is a no-brainer.

Re: Grand Cherokee vs the new Range Rover Sport

Seriously, the several thousand dollars difference isn't material. It isn't even worth considering.

Re: Grand Cherokee vs the new Range Rover Sport

I mean, if there's demand they'll offer it. I can't fault them for that. At any rate, I can think of several reasons station wagons aren't popular. For one, they're basically smaller minivans. ...

Re: Grand Cherokee vs the new Range Rover Sport

All of those reasons come down to money. Sure, 4WD is more expensive - in gas, maintenance and initial cost. But I would never, ever buy a car without it because it increases safety/stability...

Re: Grand Cherokee vs the new Range Rover Sport

I guess what I'm trying to say is that different people have different needs. It isn't unforeseeable that some people will want speed + offroad ability. I bought a Jeep exactly because I needed...

Re: Grand Cherokee vs the new Range Rover Sport

Exactly. Plus the styling and other features that said more "I want to race at the track" rather than "I like a nice luxury vehicle". I live in an urban area and we have one car for the household. ...

Re: Grand Cherokee vs the new Range Rover Sport

My problem with that logic though is that once you say "I don't care about offroad ability" I start to ask "but then why an SUV at all?" Why not start looking at sports sedans or cars that will be...

Re: Grand Cherokee vs the new Range Rover Sport

Yep, you can read on a variety of auto blogs (and forums like this one) to basically never trust third party warranties. Keep in mind, a car manufacturer selling that kind of warranty can justify...

Re: Grand Cherokee vs the new Range Rover Sport

Terrifying. A few things I get from that:

- Remember, this is a third party warranty, not a manufacturer's warranty. I used to deal with that with my Jaguar and they fought me every freakin'...

Re: 5.7 falling behindů

Yeah, agreed. I absolutely care about 0-60 times. For some of us, we have exactly one car and it has to do everything well. I don't have the luxury of a sports car, a dedicated offroad vehicle and...

Re: How much are you paying at the pump to fill up?

The 200k mile warranty is equivalent to powertrain, from what I can tell. Basically, for the Tesla the drive units. If your heated seats fail you're on your own (which isn't a small consideration)....

Re: How much are you paying at the pump to fill up?

I generally agree with this, though the "gas factor" depends on the price of gas and how much you drive. Back when gas was expensive, I was spending $500-700/month on gas. Add that to the car...

Re: How much are you paying at the pump to fill up?

$120k configured the way I like it. But 200k drive warranty and it is a more luxury vehicle anyway - plus maintenance is much cheaper. Considering I was looking at a Mercedes or Porsche, it isn't a...

Re: How much are you paying at the pump to fill up?

Well, the P85D (which is what I'm considering next) would have an almost 300 mile range, which is about what I get out of my JGC anyway. Except I'd have roughly double the horsepower and supercar...

Re: Maxcare opinions

1. I have a 2013, so the 2014+ are more efficient due to a new transmission.

2. The MPG ranges dramatically based on how much time I'm spending in traffic and how much time...

But the fact it doesn't have air suspension that will allow you to raise the ground clearance is the real killer. If it had just that one feature I'd be seriously considering it for my next car.

Re: Grand Cherokee vs the new Range Rover Sport

I don't really consider the X5 a comparable vehicle to a JGC in many respects. It has no off road capability at all, nor does it claim to. The JGC maintenance costs for the first 4 years/50k miles...

Re: Grand Cherokee vs the new Range Rover Sport

And I drive aggressively on top of that. So going from 85mph to 30mph via hard braking absolutely happens on a fairly frequent basis.
