Re: odd symbol in my EVIC

Follow-up. I did what you guys suggested and the message was "low battery in the key fob". I took the Jeep back to the dealer to get new batteries. They took it into the shop to investigate and...

Re: odd symbol in my EVIC

Thanks a lot. I've had my Jeep for nearly 3 years and there's still stuff about it I don't understand. A job for the grand-kids I guess.

odd symbol in my EVIC

I have been loving my 2012 Laredo X without any hint of problems, but the other day going for a casual drive not towing anything, I noticed a small letter "i" in the EVIC up near the compass...

Thanx TI. I sort of thought that was the case but I wasn't sure.

power steering

Does my 2012 Grand Cherokee have electric power steering? It's a Laredo X with the 3.6 engine.

Winter tires for next year

We got caught in a heavy wet snowstorm the other day with our 2012 Laredo X. She basically performed beautifully for most of the trip, then suddenly we get into some heavy slush at the side of the...

Re: Tow Hooks

I took mine to the dealer for an estimate and it was going to be $400 plus. Needless to say I didn't bite. I guess it's a labour intensive job, but really? Of course I live in Canada and we seem...

Re: I take delivery tomorrow...V6 owners need your feedback

Love my V6 and it actually has a nice little rumble to it also. Hauls our 4000+ lb travel trailer with ease.

Re: Tire Question

Thanks for the info gentlemen. That's kind of what I expected. I have no real issue with the stock tires, I just looked at them one day and thought I wonder how those will be in the winter. I...

Tire Question

My '97 ZJ was equipped with Goodyear Wranglers and I see my new 2012 Laredo X has what I would call summer tires on it. My question is when did Jeep stop putting aggressive tires on the Grand...

Re: Tow Hooks

Yes, the rain is over for now but Sat & Sun are supposed to be bad too. Yesterday, my wife and I went to a nearby town for supplies (beer) and it turned out to be quite a mud run. Slipping and...

Re: Tow Hooks

Trouble is, I'm unable to do the work myself any more due to health reasons. I saw the thread where a guy did it himself.

Tow Hooks

My 2012 Laredo X came without front tow hooks and as I write this I'm at an event in a rural area where it has been raining. There are 1000 plus trailers here and late arrivals are being towed in by...

Re: Towed my travel trailer home today...

So, if you set the EVIC at trans temp, will the transmission shift any differently? For example drop out of overdrive when the going gets tough?

Re: Towed my travel trailer home today...

I'm not sure I know what that means. OK, I haven't a clue what that means. I haven't had a chance to experiment with the EVIC very much at all so I haven't seen that screen yet.

Re: Towed my travel trailer home today...

I wonder if a trailer of that weight couldn't be towed in Drive to save gas?

Re: Towed my travel trailer home today...

No. The V6 does not have the tow button so I have to use the shifter knob to manually keep her in 4th for heavy towing to protect the overdrive. My old ZJ had a button the dash to push to do that. ...

Re: Towed my travel trailer home today...

Mine has the Pentastar V6 which to me, seems to have power to spare (290 hp). Of course I'm used to the old 4 L I6 in my ZJ. I'll post more revelations as they appear as I still only have 1350 km...

Re: Towed my travel trailer home today...

Thanx John,
My last Jeep was a '97 and was pretty primitive by comparison, so I've got a learning curve ahead of me.

Towed my travel trailer home today...

It weighs about 4000 lb. and my new 2012 Laredo X handled it beautifully. BUT, there were a couple of interesting glitches. The trailer hitch was picked up by the rear park assist as a potential...

Re: 32 MPG Jeep V6 Pentastar?

My new GC with the Pentastar has a window build sticker that claims 32 mpg. That is for Canadian gallons, which are bigger than US gallons. A US gallon has 3.78 litres whereas the CDN gallon has...

Smile She's on the way!

Our new Laredo X which we ordered in February is being prepared for shipment, so we get it in a week or so. I'll try to post a pic when she actually gets here.
