Thanks Frango - I was afraid of that! :( I have been thinking about recreating a peg and tapping threads but I think instead that I will just have it pulled and the new part installed, more expensive...

That is awesome information Frank - you are the man! I think what happened is that the pin hit the top shoulder of the fork of the selector track since I see a light dent there and the pressure...

I ordered a new lever, seal and even the little clip and a screw just in case.

i did one side at a time and used the jack points...

i did one side at a time and used the jack points under the triangles for the jack locations using plywood squares as a cusion. i also cut up some heavy cloth reinforced rubber tubing slit sideways...

i think i will just do it one side at a time. kust trying to figure out the best way to not tip it over. i have done it that way on a civic when i did the nrakes on that many moons ago.

jacking up the jeep

so i have never had to jack up the jeep on all four corners till this weekend. i have two 6 ton jacks i plan to put under the rear axle and four 3 ton jacks i plan to put under or near the frontal...

So when I acquired my jeep last winter it had a torn boot on the front drive shaft toward the rear end of the shaft - this is the concave shaped boot. and the shaft bearings - I think - made noises...

Getting the old filter box unbolted was a pita because of the crazy design of the mounts plus the rust factor. After that the install was a breeze. You just need to figure out how to use the hardware...

i put the plastic one on last week and it is awesome - makes the v8 sound the way it should. below 2500rpm everything is exactly the same but as soon as you push it past 2500rpm you will hear it...

i really like the way it looks, it is not totally matte, i assume you used the matte cans only, but it looks semi gloss or satin. i will strongly consider doing this as i plan to paint my rusty...

To-Do's:
- replace original fuel tank skid plate which is heavily rusted
- replace or fix scratched and dented rear bumper
- paint rims
- paint calipers which are all oem...

Very nice. I am thinking of painting mine. Did you have a lot of flaking clearcoat on your rims? Mine have a lot of flakes and discoloration under the clear so I would need to remove that.

I have it on my 2000 Limited and I got the grease fittings as well. It made a world of difference in the handling. Now I no longer feel like a bobble head when driving. Well at least not as much.

Steel brush and apply some POR-15 over any vulnerable areas like lower rockers and cross beams and spot welds, including the oil pans. Then you can check annually and touch up any chips.

Thanks Gus. I had a mechanic that does a lot of restoration look at it and he said the same thing and said it is not too extensive. He plans to cut awaythe rust through areas and weld plates over it...
