Re: R.I.P. to my WJ

Sorry to hear bud! Those 4.0's are pretty tough, I had 210k on my ZJ when the transmission went out. With little to no rust I'd find a good reman or crate engine and have the transmission rebuilt,...

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

Poor reps, and poor Tony! :(

We've got about a half inch of snow/ice/water right now, and there is about a foot on its way.... Thank god I'm finally getting the heater core replaced in the WJ...

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

It was super easy, there is only one "watch out for" item I will mention. Basically, jack it up, pull the front wheels, then pull the calipers off, caliper brackets, and then knock the rotor off. ...

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

New front CV shafts and wheel hubs/bearings! I can feel that it rolls smoother, those old bearings had gotten pretty bad. The CV shafts probably did not need to be replaced, but I figured why not...

Re: post your pictures of your wj

I'll admit most of it is because of road construction in the neighborhood, but it's still a dirty jeep!

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

How are you liking the expedition? Our last camping trip proved that one kid and a dog (and a wife ) is max for the grand and I've been considering the expedition, tahoe, and suburban. The...

Looking good Trav1s!

Next up for me will be more repair work, it appears the rear wiper went past the end stop and got stuck on the other side. Now its stuck half up and I can't open the rear...

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

Those temps are pretty good! From my understanding 180F would be the top normal operating temp.

They make a standard factory equivalent ball joint and then there are some designed to adjust the caster angle, usually needed for big lifts or other mods. Perhaps someone installed the wrong ball...

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

Next up for the old WJ will need to be front hubs/bearings and axle shafts. Pretty sure the hubs are failing and making noise, and if I'm taking them off I'm going to replace the CV shafts too. I...

Re: Prioritize the prior priorities

Denso and NTK have both been used as the OEM o2 sensor for Jeeps, but the WJs definitely used Denso, it was right on the label when I removed the old one. I wasn't throwing a code yet but the new...

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

My first replacement was a "Fenco" brand from Advance that I had never heard of. They since switched to A1-Cardone, a much more reputable reman company. I have higher hopes for this pump.

The Laredos and limiteds share some features, but not others. Either model can have the 4.0L I6 engine or the 4.7L V8. The limiteds tend to have more "premium" options like heated leather seats,...

The new solenoid pack fixes the problem of the trans going in to limp mode, it won't make a difference on the no TC lock up issue. Wouldn't hurt to change it before/during install of a used trans. ...

Re: Transmission troubles

Thats what I paid for mine. 99-03 "black plug" solenoids are the ones prone to fail, 04 and up "white plug" models (needs new TRS plate if installing in 99-03 trans) are the good ones. TRS plate...
