Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Unfortunately this the way it happens. I think its unacceptable that the car is provided without the tow hook and then has a technical issue that virtually guarantees you get bogged.

Check with...

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

My 3.0L CRD has had the issue as did my friends 3.6L Petrol. I'd be inclined to double check prior to assuming that you don't need the upgrade. Trust me, if your driving in a really remote location,...

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Just got my car back from having the update done. Fiat Chrysler have also agreed to refund my towing expenses. I have to say that in the end both the dealer and Fiat Chrysler were very good in their...

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Thats interesting. My dealer had no problem charging me $350 for my hook! Looks like if you don't know, they will charge you!

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

I have my car booked in for the Fix on Monday. Shona has been very helpful and restored my confidence in Fiat Chrysler. I just need to have my towing costs reimbursed then I'll be a happy man.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

I was advised that the first 1K service was only free if it was done at the place of purchase.

Regarding the 4wd issue, I'd be inclined to call Jeep Australia and have your vin checked to see if...

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Hi Brett,
we had just driven to McKenzie and spent the day there. The going was really tough with the traction control constantly working. The car seemed fine when we arrived but after 4 hours we...

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Mostly kept in sand mode but did use Auto occasionally only when the sand was very hard.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Both my and my friends GC failed after about 1 hour of continuous very soft sand driving involving slow speeds between 10 - 20kph. Short trips on soft sand were no issue and the car was fantastic...

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Mine is a 2012 CRD with Quadra lift. My advice is to call your dealer and have them check your VIN on their system.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

The problem i had was that I was unaware of the issue at the time. It wasn't until I researched the fault afterwards that I realised that switching to low could have prevented the problem.

Now...

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Hi Croupier,
I visited my Brisbane dealer today and have to say I was very unimpressed with their lack of interest in the problem. As the problem left me and my family in a dangerous situation, I...

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

I was running 22psi most of the time (on 18inch rims) and didn't have too much trouble on Fraser Beaches. The tracks were really dry and soft and went down to 18psi for the really soft stuff and...

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Maxxtrax would certainly help although if you are only in 2wd you won't get much further. I would be checking with your dealer before venturing in the sand.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Thanks for all the feedback. I'll be at the dealer after Xmas to get the fix and a refund on my towing. I'm pretty disappointed that they didn't advise of the issue and recommend the fix module.

Unhappy Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Hi Brett. What dealer in Brisbane do you visit? Both my GC'S and my friends have been bogged on Fraser Island in the last 3 days. Both have had our vehicles serviced in the last 2 weeks. I informed...
