Re: TIPM Recall

Update on my vehicle...

Finally got the fuel pump relay fix. Car behaves exactly the same. The "external" relay is an "Osram" (I think that's the brand) just like the one under the cover, but...

Re: Caught On Fire

So I just was in my dealer for a 2$ heater actuator gear and asked about the fuel pump relay recall... Suddenly, the parts were available after 10 months of waiting, so scheduled to have it done,...

Re: I need to service my emergency brakes.

So as you can see from above, I've spent some time with my e brake lately...

It still kept squeaking. I realized my options were to somehow grind the rust off the edge of the drum or buy a new...

Re: 2017 refresh

I've never lost money on a house. Not even factoring in rent money savings. Of course I've always bought used homes...

Re: I need to service my emergency brakes.

This is an old thread, but question to anyone who could answer...

I have almost no e-brake catch when I mash on the pedal at 53K miles... Also, this seems to be related to a squeak I hear at low...

Re: Snow Rims and Tires

So I am now on my 255 65 18 DMV-1's on take-off polished aluminum rims from a 2012 WK2 Limited.. These came with the TPMS and they all work! Super happy it was all "plug and play". Only downside was...

Re: water temp fluctuates

Punchline: T stat..

Replaced T stat and now temp is steady at 206-212. Clearly fixed...

Things learned in this deal:

I think the water pump change at 40K miles was the start of this. Done...

Re: water temp fluctuates

makes sense.

Everything is in good "order". Coolant level and look is fine. What I really need is 2 or 3 hemi owners to cruise on the hwy and watch the coolant temp and see if it oscillates from...

I am stumped about this, but I am wondering if the newer skid plates I added (and I have covered the oil drain plug hole in the plastic front plate to prevent salt spray into...

water temp fluctuates

Driving my 2012 5.7L in 22F ambient temp on hwy I realized it was cycling the water temp from 199-222 very rapidly, like within a mile. It keeped going up and down, is this normal, or am I heading...

Re: Did some 0-60 runs today

If you're braking the law anyway by running 0-60 (not judging) on public roads, why not go 0-80 and really see the difference between tunes? Then there's less effect from everything except (maybe)...

Re: How do you feel about a 2.0L TT as the base engine for the 2019 WL Grand Cherokee

OK, I get it. I usually don't go by the Car's computer because it is 1-2mpg generous at least. You need to calculate the mpg by miles driven divided by gallons filled. So you're talking 16-17 mixed...

Re: Caught On Fire

The fix for this should be a fuse, the fix for the fuel pump relay should be a whole new ECU not an added on module - that also fail sometimes.. I'm very unlikely to ever by a Fiat again due to these...

Re: How do you feel about a 2.0L TT as the base engine for the 2019 WL Grand Cherokee

I think the 2015 is 14/20 mpg per EPA, that's about or the same as my 2012 (13/20 iirc). I basically can't believe anyone gets 18 city with a V8 in anything, unless they are late for work every day....

Esquire top 4 cars of the year.. MB c63S won with a v8 biturbo. Not that I look to esquire for ANYTHING.

Used to be 320hp was rarefied air, now we laugh at it because it isn't 4xx. It is a silly...

Re: How do you feel about a 2.0L TT as the base engine for the 2019 WL Grand Cherokee

That engine is nice, no doubt, I was referring to the e90 M3 V8 normally aspirated engine (that was in a car that was the same price new in 2008 as a Z06), and even that weighs more, without two...

Re: How do you feel about a 2.0L TT as the base engine for the 2019 WL Grand Cherokee

My MDS kicks in at 45, IIRC, so I think we are on different planets. I get less than 10mpg in town, short distance in a hilly town. But MDS is a hwy function, I think. If you speek the truth, maybe a...

Re: How do you feel about a 2.0L TT as the base engine for the 2019 WL Grand Cherokee

Except you're wrong.

For road cars, there is really good turbo applications., But for someone wanting...

Re: How do you feel about a 2.0L TT as the base engine for the 2019 WL Grand Cherokee

Re: Snow Rims and Tires

Actually, I think the wranglers are different until 2013, so I went elsewhere, fwiw. Going with 255 65r 18 blizzak dm-v1's on 2012 oem wk2 18's, will report back when done.

Re: How do you feel about a 2.0L TT as the base engine for the 2019 WL Grand Cherokee

I can feel when my car is in MDS because there is a very slight vibration, as many have felt, and this corresponds to the eco symbol coming on when on the hwy. Putting the car in tow/haul or "6"...

Re: How do you feel about a 2.0L TT as the base engine for the 2019 WL Grand Cherokee

I have 50K miles on my jeep and if you push the transmission lever to the left, you have a "6" show up on the dash instead of a "D", and the "eco" sign doesn't show up. this means you are not in MDS...

Re: How do you feel about a 2.0L TT as the base engine for the 2019 WL Grand Cherokee

Re: How do you feel about a 2.0L TT as the base engine for the 2019 WL Grand Cherokee

I had a 2004 wrx as my only turbo ever. The up-pipes were a risk for sending metal into the turbo and grenading them. the UOA I did prompted me to trade mine in (for my hemi JGC). I liked that car a...

Re: How do you feel about a 2.0L TT as the base engine for the 2019 WL Grand Cherokee

HP / CI ?? Who cares?

for example, this argument is had against pushrods in general, like the 4L BMW V8 pushing 430hp versus the 505hp LS7 7L. Which is a better engine? Well, the LS7 sits lower in...
