i ended up replacing the CV joint on the front shaft. it was actually simple and straight forward. a hammer, screwdriver and a good set of snap-ring pliers it all it took.

Like last time, i came here for answers. I have the same 99 WJ4.7/NV247. It has the front driveshaft with the crappy CV joints on both ends. Recently, the TC end CV joint developed some play in it...

Is there anyway to test the sensors with a meter? I can also get hold of a better scanner When it jumps out of gear, it either revs freely or jumps to a higher gear. It happens quick so it's kinda...

8.7 in the city for a 4.7 is not the norm at all. the first thing i would look for is a leak, which would probably be obvious gas coming out from under. if a leak is present, it may only leak upon...

no codes and the trany service didnt fix anything that i can tell. it doesnt happen all the time, but it should never happen. i forgot to mention, along with this symptom, every once in a while it...

If you dont want fluid to come out while doing it, i would think changing them with a cold tranny would be the way to go. More ATF has settled in the pan. $15 part can give serious problems!
