Re: 2002 4.7 SE-All new ball joints/tie rods at 103K-Expected?

I'm not sure what is typical, but my 2000 WJ w/ 4.7, has 196K miles and the original ball joints and tie rods are still tight. Just lucky I guess.

Re: Dropped Grand for service last night

Glad they were able to find the problem, those types of things can be a challenge to find.

Re: Dropped Grand for service last night

I don't have a WK2 (yet), but I can comment on that initial small issues doesn't necessarily mean much on the overall reliability of a new vehicle. Given the overall complexity of new cars and the...

Re: 4.7 vs New V6

Good question, I'm also a little curious about opinions on this.

Re: Your opinion on Quadra-Trac I

Not a wheeler, so don't put words in my mouth. Just pointing out the obvious, you won't need it until you need it. If you venture into muddy farm fields there will come a time that having the...

Re: Your opinion on Quadra-Trac I

Not meant to sound like a smart ass reply. :)

QT1 will be sufficient until you get stuck and you need the center diff to lock or low range. Personally I would want to have the option.

Re: WJ Drivers Window Inop

OK. Thanks. Looks like I'll be tackling this when it warms up, looks like an easy job. NAPA carries an aftermarket replacement, so I'll probably go with that.

WJ Drivers Window Inop

I have a 2000 WJ Laredo with the 4.7L. It's been a great vehicle, I bought it new in Nov '99 and have had very few problems over its 175,000 miles. I came back from being out of town for the week...

Re: Overland in the Snow

Short answer is that you won't get something VERY competent in the snow unless you buy tires that are intended for it. You can keep the 20's but the stock tires won't be nearly as good as a tire...

Re: Another Hemi Octane Thread

Better wording would be "not necessary". Basically just that the timing curve that provides optimum performance as programmed doesn't need higher octane fuel to prevent pre-ignition.

Re: New x3 prices announced.... what a joke!!

As I think I've mentioned in another post, my GF just leased a 2011 X5 xdrive 35i. It's a sweet ride for sure and is definitely a little better put together overall than the GC. But for 20K more it...

Re: 2011 JGC commentary

Rover. It sounds like you got the Overland with the V6, is that right? If so, can you comment a little more about how the V6 does in towing?

Re: Car and Driver picks the WK2 as the winner for a 4 SUV $40k Comparison

Great they liked the GC,but wow, that had to be one of the worst comparison articles ever. Very little useful information. Just an exercise in (poor) creative writing.

Re: Quick Question about the Wk2 rear windows

BMW X5 has rear windows that go all the way down. My girlfriend just leased a 2011 X5 with the twin turbo and 8 speed transmission, very nicely put together machine. Of course I wouldn't be taking...

Re: Winter Tires & Rims?

I have Cooper Discoverer M+S on my WJ and love them. Definitely biased toward a winter tire, but I run them all year with no problems.

Not sure if the sizes they list will work on WK2 but they...

Re: Considering purchasing GC 2011- need opinions.

I've driven both the V6 and the Hemi in Overland and limited trim. I have a 2000WJ Laredo that is loaded with the 4.7 and the new jeep is miles ahead in refinement over mine and especially over the...
