Those flag bolts are going to be hard to find. The first stet of skid plates I got from the dealer didn't have hardware and the dealer had to re-order the plates...they couldn't get the hardware...

I disagree with this completely. The instructions state to install the bolts along the pinch weld first. This makes it nearly impossible to install the nuts in the door sill.

Yeah but if it's just a spacer, it wouldn't need to weigh 10lbs. The other theory doesn't seem accurate either. A ten pound weight isn't going to influence the weight balance of a 5,000lb. truck.
