Re: Hydraulic Radiator Fan 4.7L Questions Please

Looking back at this I agree. Chrysler is not all bad and Jeeps are not all bad just the 4.7 was a major dud but for now on it's 350's for me.

Re: Hydraulic Radiator Fan 4.7L Questions Please

The Jeep sold. I was glad to have it off my property. I like everything but the engine that came with it. One of the big problems with these is you cannot substitute another engine. I suppose you can...

Re: Hydraulic Radiator Fan 4.7L Questions Please

Guys I believe there is no doubt the 4.7 engine is a travesty. If you wanted to buy a new engine it costs more than many of these vehicles are worth. The Jeep dealer recommends not to rebuild them as...

Re: Hydraulic Radiator Fan 4.7L Questions Please

I forget where I found it. I was talking to mechanic friend and he said he Googled the engine itself to find the real scoop on these. It's not a Jeep engine it's a Chrysler engine found in several of...

Re: Hydraulic Radiator Fan 4.7L Questions Please

Re: Hydraulic Radiator Fan 4.7L Questions Please

I'm toying with the idea of fixing it. As I said I would need the timing chain cover as it is corroded out and probably does not cool well because of it. At that point I cannot see not replacing the...

Re: Hydraulic Radiator Fan 4.7L Questions Please

Not saying what the guy said was the gospel just stating what he said. If I tear this thing down it will also need the timing chain cover replaced as it needs replacing. The cover alone is $400.00....

Re: Hydraulic Radiator Fan 4.7L Questions Please

I really do not think it's the Thermostat though I will give that a try when I get a chance. At this point it's starting to run bad/rough and it makes a good bit of white antifreeze smelling smoke...

Re: Hydraulic Radiator Fan 4.7L Questions Please

Sorry it took me so long to get back I have been dodging life's bullets.

Take all the posts above where I said I got it fixed and null and void them. I thought I had it but I did not. When I...

Re: Hydraulic Radiator Fan 4.7L Questions Please

Update.

No more issues until last night.

I go in a building to look at something and leave the Jeep running. I come out 5 minutes later and my Jeep is running hot again. The Hydraulic fan...

Re: Hydraulic Radiator Fan 4.7L Questions Please

I do not know for sure. My gauge is not marked so I do not know what the numbers are.

I'm guessing it's about 10 degrees cooler all the time.

Before I replaced the water pump it ran at half...

Re: Hydraulic Radiator Fan 4.7L Questions Please

Just to restate for those that will run across this problem again.

It appears my Jeep needed a replacement water pump and the previous owner went for a cheap unit, I purchased the Jeep in the...

Re: Hydraulic Radiator Fan 4.7L Questions Please

It appears this has fixed the problem. Oddly enough the water pump I removed was not bad. It had no play in the bearing and the impeller (plastic) looked brand new. The previous owner had told me he...

Re: Hydraulic Radiator Fan 4.7L Questions Please

I ran the rev up test. I let the engine run until the temp started climbing a 1/4 click up the gage. Then I rev-ed the engine to about 3,000 RPM. It immediately cooled down. So for what ever reason...
