To know if you have this exact issue, go about 10mph in a straight line, let off the gas and let the Jeep coast down to about 5mph, when getting to that speed you should hear an obtrusive moan...

The noise is very specific to that 5mph speed. If you Jeep is not making a quick rub noise specifically when accerating through 5mph or a moaning droan when coasting at 5mph, your noise may be...

Took it to the dealer near my home and it was told to me and noted on my checkout sheet that the tech was able to duplicate both sounds but after confering with Chrysler and duplicating the same...

Was there ever determined to be an actual faulty piece in the transfer case that could cause a performance failure or was it just a noisy unit?

JP467, so if I was to roll at a constant 5mph and had a similar issue, I should hear the rubbing for longer then a second or two? Would it be continuous? Did it happen every time?
