Re: FLASH: TRANSMISSION SHIFT ENHANCEMENTS (vehicles with 3.6L engine)

On Friday we received a call from Chrysler following up on the trans update. She didn't ask many questions, but she wanted my overall opinion of how the transmission is now and what mode do we drive...

Re: I Think I Fixed My Rough Shifting 8sp Transmission

I have found that our gas mileage is about 5 to 7 % better. I think it could be from not having to modify our driving around the transmission. Who knows with these things sometimes. Now averaging...

Re: Limited recall?

If you are concerned, I wouldn't take delivery. On our 2011 the day before pick up, the guy said the seat tipped and they were ordering a new one. Took two weeks and I never bothered to check it out...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee problems with 10 miles

Misaligned hatch (fixed), shaking in steering and seat (has been balanced twice and is better, but not perfect) and transmission (flash fixed most of my complaints, but i think they still have a...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee problems with 10 miles

Our 2011 Grand Cherokee has a similar issue. The sway bar was not torqued properly and had a bad rattle. It was an easy fix, but was a pain to deal with. It was a good truck till the end, but was...

Re: FLASH: TRANSMISSION SHIFT ENHANCEMENTS (vehicles with 3.6L engine)

That is so ridiculous to hear that a dealer would charge that for a brand new vehicle in warranty. Time to find a new dealer.

I would just tell them you are having transmission issues and that...

Re: FLASH: TRANSMISSION SHIFT ENHANCEMENTS (vehicles with 3.6L engine)

I had the flash done yesterday. What a difference.

The 1st to 2nd shift point is much higher (close to 2k rpms), but still isn't perfect. The initial shift is not as smooth as other up-shifts. I...

I was also told at my last visit that they reflashed the PCM. Was not aware there was an update.

I plan to go into the dealer in the next week or so. For those that the dealer is saying they do not have it, I would challenge them.

They should be able to logon to their systems with Chrysler...

I have the V6, but like noted above, this is in 8th gear at around 75 mph and going uphill. I imagine that you are not cruising those hills at these speeds :)

They just told me he replicated and it's a common complaint. He said it is the torque converter locking up. Does this make any sense? I don't have a ton of technical knowledge.

On a side note.

Yes, slight drone noise too. Currently in the waiting room at the dealer. Slight drone noise, but it is more the vibration that is annoying. We had a 2011 Gc Laredo x and do not recall having that....

Unrelated question regarding the antenna.

Is the antenna supposed to be painted the same color as the body or is it normally black?

Re: 2014 JGC Transmission Survey

Does anyone else have an opinion? I still would figure that the increase in RPMs requires additional fuel to essentially slow down the jeep.

Question, and hopefully this doesn't come off as being dumb. I agree there is more engine braking involved, but wouldn't that go against all the recent changes they have made to increase gas mileage?...

I assume that is what the abbreviation is. I live in CT, but that service order wa done by the NY dealer that originally had the car. It was done about a month before I took delivery.

Re: If your 8spd trans is rough, put your hand up

Mine is shifted slightly to the left. I don't have a pic to post, but if you look at the Jeep from the back, it is easy to spot. Will tell dealer to fix when I bring it in next week.
