Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

I fixed mine, at least for now. I had several minor rattles and one _major_ rattle.

The major rattle came from right around rear seat driver's side grab handle. It seemed to vary in based on...

Re: 2011 vs 2012 Gas Mileage

Plenty of 2011s have the pump also, just not when it went to the EPA.

Re: Adding 12V outlet in backseat area

You know there is a jack inside the console, right? And there is a little notch on the side of the console to feed out a wire from in there.

Re: New Jeep Grand Cherokee commercial "Black Ice"

What deceitful advertising. When you do you need to "transfer power" when on a patch of black ice? ABS and ESC if anything are what come into play on black ice, that is if you have any wheels that...

Re: I hate my truck sometimes-- disorganized rant

What about the "Gear Limit Request" that can be sent over CANBUS:

Does that sound possible? Purely speculation, but suppose the current...

Re: I hate my truck sometimes-- disorganized rant

I'm guessing the "Autostick" section here is wrong? :

Is there any way to get true autostick behavior on this car?

Re: I hate my truck sometimes-- disorganized rant

Yes, it sounds like it goes down to 2nd, but then immediately back to 3rd where I want it. I'm not looking for huge acceleration, just to maintain speed. I'm usually just in a hilly area where I've...

Re: I hate my truck sometimes-- disorganized rant

I agree that you can learn and compensate for the poor programming-- to some degree. I've been a lot more aware of things lately, so now it's not just the general "this sucks", but more specific...

Re: Spare Tire Relocation

You'll already be angled just to get it in there in the first place. Not any finagling is going to fit any tire bigger than 26" without cutting some plastic, and even then you won't be able to fit...

I hate my truck sometimes-- disorganized rant

First: I have an overland 4x4 V6 with 8000 miles. I went to the dealer right after I got it to get the ECM/TCM update applied. This helped to some degree, but I'm back to hating it again.

The...

Re: Spare Tire Relocation

If the differentials are open it should be fine for short distances unless the tire diameters differ too much. I don't have the rear LSD. Is the center differential limited slip at all?

I've had...

Re: Spare Tire Relocation

I took the spare off and positioned it where it would be behind the rear axle under the car. It's too big-- even when touching the sway bar it wouldn't fit behind the hitch mount. Maybe a smaller...

Re: K&N cold air intake?

The alternative is stock. Manufacturers aren't quite so stupid anymore. They pick the low-hanging fruit themselves. You'll need to spend big money to get much more out of these engines. Anything...

Re: Adaptive cruise adjustment?

I find myself hitting the cancel and resume buttons frequently. If you let the Jeep manage it, it brakes for way too long, at which point you're going 15mph slower than the car in front of you, and...

Re: ChryCo 300 and and 8 speed

I have to say I was happy to see it is a $1k option. Makes me feel better about opting for a 2011 with the 5-speed.

Re: Holy crap... hope no one is planning on trading in their WK2

I was in a pissy mood. But also I get irritated when people create sensationalism over a misunderstanding of statistics. The news media has a knack for this.

Re: Holy crap... hope no one is planning on trading in their WK2

This thread is stupid. It's what one dealer offered for one vehicle.

If you're stupid enough to be surprised at the lowball offer, that's probably why he offered it-- he thought you may be stupid...

Re: HEMI real life mpg on WK2

I'd consider the EPA estimates on this vehicle pretty accurate. If you baby the throttle you can get a few more MPG out of each of these engines, but I wouldn't count on it.

People with the hemi...

Re: Blind Spot Mirrors

Your mirrors have the auto-dimming coating, so finding something like this would likely be much more difficult. I hear a lot of mirrors in Europe come like this stock.

I actually turned it around and mounted it on the center headrest...

Re: Hitch mount RACK options?

I bought this one:

I redrilled the hitch pin hole about 10" farther down...

Re: Interview with Phil Jansen-2011 head engineer

This doesn't read as if it's directly from an engineer. Likely they conducted a 20 minute verbal interview and the marketing people wrote it up. I enjoyed the unfiltered interviews much more.
