Re: ALL NEW NITTO NT421Q in 265/50 VR 20

Trip to Snowshoe WV this past weekend was the test for these tires, now about 20k miles on them. Snow and ice on the roads for the last 30 miles or so both directions, heavy at times. And of course...

Re: Handling the JGC on ice

Sometimes the right conditions of snow/ humidity/ melt temperature can be worse than ice. If starting/ turning is bad then stopping will be worse. Go slow and always have a plan B.

Re: Oil change schedule

I doubt the warranty company would change it at less than the manufacturer's interval. They're not around to spend money unless they absolutely have to.

Re: ALL NEW NITTO NT421Q in 265/50 VR 20

18k on mine, the only issue is they do flat-spot when parked, especially during cold weather. Last week before I drove to Florida I almost thought I threw a balance weight. But I drove 75-80 for most...

Re: Oil change schedule

I've been doing it every 8k miles, my OM recommendation. I drive 32k/ year so the time issue is irrelevant. My first few changes were "free" at the dealer so I assume they used non-synthetic. Since...

Major milestone: all one color. Final prime coat after all the body work and associated block sanding done.

The hood and trunk lid are painted separate, shown with a black guide coat for final...

Re: Restoring an old luxury car

The hood and right front fender could not be salvaged without a huge body work bill. I lucked out and found both from a guy three hours away in Tennessee. I rented a UHaul trailer and went out and...

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

ChyCo paid to replace the frame, and my dealer took two days for the install. Zurich paid for one day of car rental (those bastards).

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

I looked carefully at the rear panel and found misalignment of the rubber seal adjacent to where the worst noise is. To me, that's an obvious manufacturing defect, so it should be covered. I have an...

Re: Restoring an old luxury car

Nearly done with the engine bay. The addition of AC in the car led to the need for a March serpentine belt system. A bit pricey but the wrap on my alternator took care of an issue with a squealing...

Re: ALL NEW NITTO NT421Q in 265/50 VR 20

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

That's a good idea. But since I have 57k miles on the vehicle now I won't get much of a refund. I'm seriously considering just trading in. The Ecodiesel should save me $600/ year in fuel costs.

2014 Chrysler 300C Hemi Long Test Drive

Re: Transmission dipstick plug removal- 2012 Pentastar equipped

Mopar lists a part # 04591959AA for "cap, oil filler", which sounds like a replacement cap. I'm thinking that this thing is simply torqued off and destroyed, so replaced.

Re: Autoweek's take on the Summit Ecodiesel

I have yet to drive one or even hear one, maybe they are being overly critical, or maybe I haven't been sitting in traffic next to one yet.

But if it is noisy, I'd never have one.

Re: ALL NEW NITTO NT421Q in 265/50 VR 20

I got mine at Discount Tire about three weeks ago. So far they seem to develop a flat spot after sitting overnight, and that goes away after a few miles on the highway. I'm hoping that this isn't an...

Re: Overland vs Limited Dilemma

Gosh I love the wood wheel. Especially on cold days since it heats up the most.

So the dash trim wood on the '14's has a matte finish? Interesting.

Re: Positioning jack stands on the WK2

The reason that they do that is for liability concerns, due to potential instability. You should note that in the high positions jack stands will tend to sway. Most sway more in just one direction,...

Re: Positioning jack stands on the WK2

No, because you have the front on two stands, then you jack the center of the rear sub-frame. Three points is the most stable configuration possible. Instead of using the pinch welds I use the ends...

Re: Positioning jack stands on the WK2

All you need is one rolling jack and two stands.
1. Loosen all lug nuts.
2. Jack the front and set it on stands.
3. Jack the back.
4. Rotate tires.
5. Lower the back.
6. Jack the front,...
