Re: Oil Change Really Due?

If your light keeps coming on early, all I can suggest is take it to the dealer. It should be covered by warranty.

On my old Jeep (1993 ZJ 5.2 liter) I changed my oil every 2,000 miles and sold...

Re: Oil Change Really Due?

From what I've read, synthetics offer better protection because the oil molecules are smaller than those in regular oil, therefore more are in contact with the metal parts providing a better film...

Re: Oil Change Really Due?

Maybe so. My new Jeep calls for 5W-20 oil instead of 10W-30. I'm still a bit concerned about driving in the southwestern deserts in July or August with only 20 weight oil. Any thoughts?

Re: Oil Change Really Due?

Frequent oil changes are cheap insurance to prolong your engine life. I changed the oil on my 1993 5.2 liter ZJ every 2,000 miles and just sold it with 308,511 miles on the original engine. This...

Re: who has the most miles on their jeep

Finally sold my 1993 ZJ 5.2 liter. It had 308,511 miles. The powertrain was still original except for the transmission.

Re: Off-Road Adventure II Package Tires

My Overland arrived and I switched out the tires to BFG All Terrain KO size LT265-65R-18 and they fit beautifully. No rubbing whatsoever, even with the steering wheel hard over. Boy, do they look...

Re: Off-Road Adventure II Package Tires

Speaking of BFG, the All-Terrain KO in 265/65R-18 does fit on the stock wheels according to the service rep at my dealer. It also provides 1/2 inch increase in ground clearance. That's the way I'm...

Re: Off-Road Adventure II Package Tires

I'm trying to stick with the BFG All-Terrain KO in 265/65R-18, but will use the LTX A/T2's as a back up. The dealer parts guy says the BFGs will fit.

I've used the BFGs since day one on my ZJ and...

With the air dam off, what component(s) are the most likely to be struck when off roading? Are there skid plates available?

Thanks.

Re: Off-Road Adventure II Package Tires

Do you think the BFG KO 265/65R-18 would fit the Sahara wheels? I'm trying everything I can to stick to the BFG KO.

Thanks for your help. :)

Re: Which tires should I buy, you be the judge

I ordered my Overland a few days ago and will take quite a while to arrive-longer with the parts problems in Japan.

Sorry.

Re: Off-Road Adventure II Package Tires

Re: Off-Road Adventure II Package Tires

For the Overland with Off Road Adventure Group II, Iíve considered the following.

Re: ATTENTION: 2011 owners! PLEASE READ! Questions for the engineers?????

From the owner's manual:

Why is 5W-20 oil specified for the 5.7l engine? Is the thinner oil sufficient to protect my engine when driving in the heat of the desert? If so, why is 5W-30 specified...

Re: Which tires should I buy, you be the judge

What do you mean by "higher performance?" Better traction at speed, in the wet or snow and ice, off road . . .

I'm getting four BF Goodrich All Terrain KO 265/65R18s for an Overland with the Off...

Re: Question re choosing tires (Overland)

Thanks, Jay. With your spare in the spare tire well, does the cover fit flush with the cargo floor? Are there any rubbing problems with the steering wheel hard over?

300K Club?

Does anyone have 300,000 miles on their ZJ? I'm rapidly approaching that mark with 298,050 miles with the original engine. I bought my Jeep new in 1993 and have been off-roading in nine states.

Air suspension reliability

The air suspension sounds great on paper, but what about reliability-especially long term and in cold climates? Are there any early reports one way or the other?
