Re: Passenger AC not blowing cold 04 Limited

Update: I replaced the actuators and now the actuators stop when the door reaches full travel after approximately a 1 sec delay (seems like an unusual amount of force required to send the 'shutoff'...

If the fluid is good, correct type (with MS7176 - ATF+3 min), and correct level, maybe the transmission bands need adjustment.

The ZJ transmission has two bands IIRC, and there is an adjustment...

Re: Passenger AC not blowing cold 04 Limited

My guess is the plastic collars are weak with age. I agree with you that the actuators themselves are not faulty. I figured new actuators with nice new collars might solve the problem. If that's...

Re: Passenger AC not blowing cold 04 Limited

Frank,
Those are my thoughts as well. When I had the HVAC on the bench I applied power and watched the actuators... the linkage (plastic collar that slips over the door assembly hinge) actually...

Re: Passenger AC not blowing cold 04 Limited

Update on my HVAC saga...

Finally pulled the dash again and pulled the HVAC unit. Both blend doors both seem to travel unrestricted in the housing. I bench tested both actuators and they seem to...

Re: Questions 2004 WJ Limited

$255 Sounds very reasonable for both differentials and the transfer case. The fluids alone will cost you ~ $100.

Re: Questions 2004 WJ Limited

I use the factory service manual - mine also says the same for both (i.e. 2.5 oz for both the D44 and D30). I think it is a typo, though. My 2000 FSM said 4oz and 2.5oz, which makes more sense. I...

Re: Questions 2004 WJ Limited

Frank,

I use the Factory Service Manual. As for the limited slip additive It looks like it is just a ratio... i.e. roughly 1 oz per pint. My manual says add 2.5 oz per axle. I think it is a...

Re: Brake temperature

Frank,
I wouldn't be too worried - your temps are symmetrical, right? The increased cooling airflow over the fronts and also the solid discs in the rear may account for the higher temps.

Re: Questions 2004 WJ Limited

bakpakr,

Frank pointed out 2 errors in the spec sheet I included earlier - The engine is 16 valve not 32 valve, and also the rear brakes are solid disc vice ventilated. Ironically, that is not...

Thumbs down Re: Questions 2004 WJ Limited

bakpakr

Welcome! Frank is right on with his advice. The blend door movement after shutdown is normal. If the codes you are getting refer to the blend doors they should be in the range of...

Re: Passenger AC not blowing cold 04 Limited

Frank,
Good point on the IOD fuse. I was just pulling the battery cable since it was easier and I had been doing multiple re-calibrations while troubleshooting. The re-calibration appears to...

Re: Passenger AC not blowing cold 04 Limited

Frank,
Thanks again for the info. I calibrated it the same way as you describe, except I pulled the battery cable rather than the IOD fuse. I hadn't checked the door values right after a...

Re: Passenger AC not blowing cold 04 Limited

Frank,

Thanks for the help... yes, it seems like 1060 is lowest.. +/- a few points. I'm not really interested in cutting a hole in the HVAC box, and that's the only other way I can think of...

Re: Passenger AC not blowing cold 04 Limited

Thanks for the reply! The driver's side is blowing cold air, and seems to operate normally in all regards. When the temperature setting knob is increased on the passenger side, the air temperature...

Passenger AC not blowing cold 04 Limited

Hi all,
I recently replaced my blend doors with OE replacements, on my 2004 Limited (Dual AZC). Everything seemed to be working fine until the really hot weather kicked in. Now, the passenger ac...
