Looks great, it really stands out. I've been toying with either blue or yellow, or even doing the jeep logo in one of the two colors and use the other on the rest of the caliper.

I just put tires on mine 3 weeks ago. I went with the Cooper Discoverer AT3. Will advise on wear once I get some miles on them. I managed 46k on the Forteras that came on it.

I'd have to agree on either the heat shrink or liquid electrical tape to protect it better than just wrapping with electrical tape.

I'd say keep them on unless you're looking to remount up to the roof. If you were going to the SRT8 setup or lowered, I'd say leave them off for a sleeker look.

I had great luck out of Cooper mud terrains on my old 99 XJ. I ran 30x9.5 Cooper STT's on stock suspension. They handled good and lasted longer than the BFGs that were on before

city/hwy combo avaerage 18-20 and that's behaving most of the time. best ever was 25.4, but that's a rarity.. I'm sure it'll go down once the bigger tires/lift go on.
