Re: Brand new 2015 jeep, oil reset lights says "last reset 40631 mi"

I did say I really had no idea. An obvious farce since June only has 30 days.

Re: Overheats Towing

Coolant, or antifreeze, is what circulates through the engine to remove the heat of combustion and friction. (Note: A secondary function of motor oil is also heat evacuation, so it is also a...

Re: Overheats Towing

Are you down shifting to a lower gear? Granted, my GC is different but when towing over 5000 lbs up a hill I keep the RPM above 3000. It sounds counter intuitive but higher engine speed moves more...

Re: DIY- 2011 Differential Service/ Fluid Change

For non- ELSD my choice would have been AMSOIL but they are correct in that the MOPAR part would be fine. You can run oil with a friction modifier in non limited slip axles. You can not run...

Re: Towing thread

Ah, the CARGO capacity! Gotcha! And a big +1 to the dark art of manufacturers figures.

FWIW, from C&D for the my Overland:

Curb weight 5,304 pounds
 (as tested)

Re: Towing thread

That, sir, is a good question! I honestly do not know. Never thought about it. I'll have to try it on next time I drive it!

No, it doesn't change the balance but it changes the ride height. In...

Re: 18" rims to 20" swap

I didn't make the switch on the GC but I can tell you from experience that the 20" wheels will result in better handling. A lower profile sidewall yields less under lateral stress compared to a tall...

Re: Nitto Terra Grappler 275/55/20

I am comparing new TG's to the Fortera at the end of it's (pitiful) life, but yes they would be one of the top choices. You have to remember that the OEM tires on the GC are really just car tires....

Re: Is this normal?

Yessir. It's normal.
A complete combustion is a process burning all the carbon (C) to (CO2), all the hydrogen (H) to (H2O, water) and all the sulphur (S) to (SO2). So essentially, the water coming...

Re: New Sneakers

Yessir! Now, if they are on wheels and inflated it is not as critical. The pressure in them will prevent distortion. Again, for short term (<6 month) storage...

Re: P013C and P0100 codes

You may have better luck in the WK sub section of the forum. However, with the K&N my suspicion is that you need to remove and clean the MAS. I've seen numerous vehicles have problems with the air...

Re: How much of these dealer PM items are REALLY necessary???

Sorta answered your own question, eh? ;)
Fuel system service is a load of crap unless you continually use el cheapo fuel (Sheetz, BJ's, Costco, Wawa, etc). Even if you had been using sub par fuel...

Re: Recommended engine oil for 3.6L?

1stJeep, there is always a benefit. 40k is a young engine by modern standards :)

It's Amsoil for me. With 2 cars, a Jeep and 3 motorcycles I like having it show up at my door instead of going to...

Thumbs up DIY- 2011 Differential Service/ Fluid Change

Hello, Jeep family! I finally got around to changing the oil in my differentials yesterday. Since I had done some searching (here and elsewhere) and found minimal information on the procedure for the...

Re: What fuel for 14 5.7

A car doesn't know what octane fuel is in the tank. The recommended rating (89 for example) is what the vehicle was designed for during use at or near sea level. As altitude increases, the need for a...

Re: Air suspension vs Regular springs

It does. I have it listed in the contract documents as "air springs" and "compressor, air suspension". The max care is more exclusionary, meaning they list what isn't covered. I bought it a few weeks...

Re: Bright White Overland

Interesting that they moved the OL badge to the right side on '14 models. I like it better that way. Might have to move mine

Re: Are all 2011 WK2 front brake pads the same size?
