Re: $50k+ is a lot of money for a new vehicle...

Perhaps lowering your sights just a bit. You can get a pretty nice V-6 Laredo for just over $30k.

Much lower depreciation, and still the same basic Jeep, just without all the options (that you...

Re: Purchase dilemma (4X2 vs. 4X4) w/ current supply and lease rates

Figure that 4x2 will get about 1 mpg better than 4x4 in similar driving.

Combination of extra weight and increased rolling resistance is the cause.

Re: 2015 Cherokee

Most of the dealership will sell you a comparably equipped Grand Cherokee for about the same price of a Cherokee. Lots more car for the money.

Cherokee is built on a Dart Chassis.

Re: Place to hide your keys/external lockbox options?

Magnetic hide-a-key has works pretty well.

You put your key inside and stick it to any steel part of the frame.

Get them at wall mart or car washes.

Act like you are tying your shoe when you...

Re: Place to hide your keys/external lockbox options?

Don't tell anybody, but underneath your drivers seat is a really cool hiding spot. It is hidden with a cover that you can pry up with your fingers. Bigger than you would expect, and totally covert....

Re: The Great Drying Towel Debate

I love optiGuard (expensive) and the way a professional paint corrector can work out a car and put their high tech coating on to keep it looking great.

However, most of us want to take care of our...

Re: CAI for WK2 V6 even worth it?

Your WK2 comes from the factory with a pretty cool cold air intake (CAI). It brings in cool air from the top of your grill, and uses a pretty trick bottom feed to the stock air filter. Keeps mud and...

Re: Where do you take your WK2 for service in San Diego/S. OC?

Jack Powell in Escondido has a pretty good reputation, but they are an old school dealership.

Kind of depends on how high your expectations are.

Re: Is the LR4 "tougher" than the JGC

Would say both are equally tough.

In case either breaks down, Jeep has lots more service facilities, and far less expensive repairs.

Land Rover is a much more complicated vehicle, and has a...

Re: Question for the 2wd folks

3 previous Jeeps were V-8 4x4. Found myself going off road less and less. Got tired of the maintenance and repairs.

Went with 2wd and V-6 for 2012. What a joy. Quieter, more responsive handling,...

Re: V-6 or V-8 on 2014-- Opinions

V-6 costs a couple thousand less out of the gate. Due to lighter weight it handles much better and does not have that heavy nose you get with a V-8 + 4WD.

At 100,000 miles a V-6 will still be on...

Re: Dead Spot in Acceleration 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 3.6VVT

Think their fix was to drop an 8 speed transmission in the 2014's. Field reports indicate that this makes the Jeep much more responsive.

Laredo X was a pretty nice package. Made the Laredo in to almost a Limited. Keyless entry, backup camera and upgraded electronics, leather power seats, etc.
All many people needed.

Re: Break-in MPG?

Heavy V-8's with 4wd are very throttle sensitive.

To see what your Jeep is capable of, air up tires a couple lbs, and run at a steady 60 mph with cruise control engaged. Bet you will be surprised.
