Re: 2014 ecodiesel in shop

It was a poor joke on my part. A mule is a biological hybrid of a horse and a donkey.

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

I think that goes for any car with a turbo. Turbos make the best mufflers.
That's the best price so far an ECU remap.

What comes first, the DPF or the Cat?

Does anyone know if the CRD has both a DPF and a cat or just a DPF? If both, which comes first? I ask this because my scanner reads only the cat temp or at least what it thinks is the cat temp.

Re: Anyone with Exhaust Filter problems

I don't think normal highway driving will do it. My scanner reads cat temperatures. I don't know how that relates to DPF temperatures but I guess it would be in the ball park. Anyway, to clean out...

Re: My Experience with E85 and V6

Quite true. Timing advance does give a performance improvement with higher octane fuel but without a compression ratio increase, the difference is slight. I tested this on a GM 3.6L V6 which had...

Re: The Towing thread

Wow! Is that truly solid? Just goes to show the stresses they expect with WDHs. I suspect it is not cast but rolled billet. I could be wrong. If it is rolled, drilling another pin hole should...

Re: The Towing thread

Ally,
From your pics, it seems to me that the restriction is caused by how the HR adaptor flares out to the rear. If this is so, you certainly shouldn't attempt to grind back the flare. This is a...

Re: My Experience with E85 and V6

Maybe you already know this but higher octane is useful only if you have an engine with a higher compression ratio which then allows more of the fuel's energy to be utilised. Ethanol has only 63% of...

Re: My Experience with E85 and V6

It's not rocket science. Just compare the calorific values:Gasoline 47.3 MJ/kg (mega joules per kilogram)
Ethanol 29.7 MJ/kg
It would be miracle if ethanol could match gasoline for HP.

TSB 17-002-14 http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_1700214.pdf came out on 1 July 2014 with what is supposedly the proper fix for the clunking noise that has so frustrated so many Jeep owners with...

Re: My Experience with E85 and V6

Around our part of the world they burn rainforests to grow oil palms to make ethanol so that the Greenies can feel good about themselves not using as much gasoline.

Re: Castrol Edge Titanium $39.99 for 5 lts

I'm sure you are right but my point is that Chrysler may well have borrowed MB 229.51 and rebadged it as Chrysler spec MS11106. Standards organisations do this all the time. Remember that there are...

Instead of the horizontal slots, how about vertical slots to set off the grill slots. You could also add a few judiciously placed circular holes for effect, like this maybe ○.|||||||.○ :)

Re: Castrol Edge Titanium $39.99 for 5 lts

Thanks for the heads up. However, don't you think the manufacturer would be just a little biased towards its own product? What matters is that it is approved to Jeep's requirements.

Re: Tires... Destination AT vs LTX MS2 vs LTX AT2?

A deep tread will always hold rocks more than a shallow tread. The width of the grooves simply determines the size of the rocks it holds. The LTXs might also be not so noisy if you pulled the rocks...

Thanks for the examples. However, note that none of them used a tarp or taped over the gap between the bonnet and the grill. I would have thought that was standard practice for water crossings.

Yes the QL stays locked but automatically unlocks when the car gets up a bit of speed. Chances are the technician would not get up enough speed.
