Re: Jeep 'Bible'

Never heard of a "bible" for jeeps, but at least on jeepgarage you have found heaven on earth with a lot of "jeep gods" who know all the inns and outs of your jeep, so ask around:D.
Donīt know the...

Re: NV245 Transfer case oil options?

In fact the mopar stuff is made by Mobil as Mobil424. Mopar doesn't make oils, but buy it from oil companies and put their name, P/N and "special" price to it. Amsoil has also a fluid with the same...

Re: Alarm sounds when cranking - Jeep turns off

After many times being flexed by opening/closing the door, the wire will break internally and the isolation can still be intact for a while. This gives intermittent problems which are difficult to...

Re: 65rfe help

Some googling shows that the 5-45RFE and 65RFE are basically the same transmissions. The 5-45RFE had already 6 forward gears, 1st, 2nd, 2nd prime, 3rd, 4th and 5th. 2nd gear was used during...

Re: Occasional starting problem

The battery would be the first thing to check, but when it starts the second time without hesitation, i would think that the battery is not the issue. But a check from a shop would proof that.
I...

Re: Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Code P1389

This is strange, that the alternator could blow fuse 26, since its not in the circuit of fuse 26. Maybe that a problem with the alternator field winding messed with the PCM field driver and could...

The 42RE only has an inlet filter. See attached pages for the servicing procedure.

Re: Dumb question: What tranny do I have?

Yeh, the 4.0 came with the 42RE transmission. You will need about 4 Qts of ATF+4.

Re: Alarm sounds when cranking - Jeep turns off

If the instrument cluster and EVIC are working now, then i wonīt expect the problem to be the data bus. You could measure the bus voltage, just to be sure its not out of line (2.0-2.5V). The memory...

Re: Alarm sounds when cranking - Jeep turns off

That is good news, nothing better then when you can do it yourself. Iīm not sure where the water is coming in, maybe from the receptacle on the engine bay side. Some dielectric grease on that side...

Re: Alarm sounds when cranking - Jeep turns off

PCI bus problems can be hard to solve. Did you check the bus voltage after cleaning the C200 connector? I would get some contact cleaner to spray the connector well, to remove any evidence of water....

Re: 2000 4.7L JGC A/C Compressor cycling On/Off

You could jumper the low pressure switch to keep the compressor on, but why not putting the refrigerant in and then it will stay on as soon as the low pressure limit is reached?

Re: Alarm sounds when cranking - Jeep turns off

I still would check connector C200 first. Moisture or corrosion can cause a short between the bus connector pin and an other feeder pin running next to it. The bus voltage is at least too high, so...

Re: Need some guidance

You should have the NV 242 T-case in your jeep, which uses the ATF+4 fluid, same as the transmission. Some guys run amsoil in both without any problem. An other member will hopefully chime in on...

Re: Alarm sounds when cranking - Jeep turns off

The skim also connects to the PCI bus, so when the PCI bus is dead, the PCM will not get the key ok message from the skim and the engine will run for 3 seconds and shut off. Same thing for the BCM (...

Re: Alarm sounds when cranking - Jeep turns off

That the remote unlocks all doors except the drivers, is another pointer towards the PCI data bus. The drivers door unlocks via the drivers door module, which gets the signal via the PCI bus from the...

Re: Alarm sounds when cranking - Jeep turns off

Welcome to the garage.
No instruments and no EVIC sounds as a dead PCI data bus. You could measure pin 2 of the data connector under the steering wheel, it should show 2.5 V more or less. If its 0...

Yes, the line pressure sensor is mounted, like the speed sensors, with one bolt, on the outside of the transmission. No need to open the transmission for this.
