Re: Overheats Towing

I'd start with synthetic oil, "water wetter", and a 180F thermostat. Agree the Pentastar likes more revs than a Hemi or Diesel.

I also use Torgue Pro, a dongle, and a 7" Android tab to monitor a...

Re: Adding factory tow package to MY2014 SRT

BTW you do not want to hide the brake controller because you cannot see the display or activate manually. Mine is low and I see it through the right bottom of the steering wheel.

Re: 5.7 Disappearing Coolant

+2 on first thought was head gasket. What I am thinking is a head was not torqued properly and is sealing when cold and seeping when hot. This will not show up on a simple cooling system pressure...

Re: WK2 not starting - ideas??

Any time I see multiple simultaneous failures, I look for a bad ground somewhere. This was a common problem in '14 but had not heard of it in an '11. Of course something could have been jostled when...

Re: Power Steering Failure

I'd check the fuses first but if the electrohydromechanical pump did fail then it would be good to have a new one under warrenty.

Re: Build Sheets

Interesing, that equipment list URL brought up the info for my 07 Crossie as well. No option codes but you can find those on a different list.

I did receive a list with option codes (ERB 3.6L V6...

Re: Towing thread

Tongue height does not matter much for a single axle trailer but can be critical for a dual axle (and with near 7k gross, I'll bet that's a tandem).

Trailer manufacturer can tell you what it is...

Re: Issue free

My only issue with my '12 at 18k miles has been the F-150 that tried to mount it from the rear (but the receiver kept it at bay).

Am noticing that with 6/32nds left on the Goodyears I am seeing...

Re: What's your opinion on fuel?

As mentioned gas is gas, same amount of "power" in a gallon 87 or 93 PON. What higher octane does is burn slower (so needs more advance) and autoignites (detonates) at a higher pressure (to avoid...

Also have the fold flat, used quite often, and no one has complained including one trip that was 9 hours each way.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Aye, there's the rub. In the US and nearly every way except MPG and maintenance, the Hemi has the Diesel beat.

OTOH, in order to meet government mandated requirements, diesels are necessary.

Re: Friendly Advice ..Dont buy a 2014 Grand Cherokee Overland

This is only the problems that you hear about. Jeep has sold over 80,000 WK2s this year, more than any other CJF brand except the Ram pickup. That is interesting.

See here...

Re: 2014 3.6L Intake/Exhaust/Chip

BTW if you do not like the 20's, go for 18s, the 17s from a Laredo will not clear your brakes.

AFAIK there is not a chip for a Pentastar nor is there a lower temp thermostat so a CAI is not going...

'11-'13 WK2 Service Manual

The good news is that the factory service manual I have been niggling for since I bought my '12 is now available and appears to be one available for each of all three model years, '11-'13.

Re: Inexpensive OBD-II

It is a little difficult for me since the CRD is not available in the US so cannot checkout. For Torque I would suggest installing the TorqueScan plugin also from the store and see what it finds.

Re: Smokey Mountains and Electronics (long)

Pehaps "misfire" is a misnomer but that is what a code P030x is called and the CEL usually results from a P0302 or P0304.

What it really means is that the engine speed (rpm) is not constant and it...

I added the side rails/children's steps to my new Laredo. Not difficult but provided some notes (http://padgettp.com/cars/jeep/heeprail.htm)to accompany the pictograms that came with it.
