Re: 98 zj check battery, alternator issue

Voltage regulator is in the PCM. Search for the fender washer temporary fix. If that doesn't work, might be time for a new PCM.

Junk yard or driveline shop for the shaft. A TJ (97+ Wrangler) yoke should work, both being low pinion Dana 30. HTH.

Re: Grand Cherokee or Wrangler Mod Suggestions

You can modify any year Grand (ZJ, WJ, WK/2), look @ these guys running 33's-35's on some SWEET WK's. Mallcrawlin.com has some impressive ZJ/WJ love. Wranglers will always have a larger aftermarket...

Little update on the Cooper AT3. Got a little snow & nasty cold here in Colorado, single digit temps & packed or deeper snow on the roads were NO problem. I can kick out the rear if I gas through a...

Re: '93 XJ Lift

Every rig is different. At 4" you'll probably want to go ahead & do a slip yoke eliminator with a CV/Double Cardan shaft. T-case drop is cheaper if you don't want to go SYE, but robs clearance. ...

Re: larger tire with stock suspension.

235 70 R17XL (Xtra Load) stock Avila II rims..TRUE 30" tire. Very reason I bought, as I saw most 31x10.50 AT tires ran from 30"-30.7". Check out my pics in the off road mod section to see what I've...

Re: Tire Recommendations

Do expect a hit on MPG's for a little while. I noticed the rubber compound is very sticky until you "break in" the tires. Enjoy!

Ditto on the Cooper love. Haven't had a chance to play in the snow with them yet. Wet traction is great & don't seem to hydroplane like I used to feel with the BFG AT/KO. Less squirm than Hankook...

Re: Hancock, Cumberland, & Tincup Passes...Did'em In One Day!!!

Great pics Lou! Good amount of trail yall covered. I've found it's a much slower go in the stocker than the trail ZJ, hard to get that much dirt in. Git it before the trails snowed in!

Re: Towing w/4 wheels on the ground

Pull front shaft, t-case in neutral, no issues. I may be old school with pulling the driveshaft, but if anything pops out of gear there's nothing to bind.

May just be worn springs. Get tow package rated/upcountry O.E.M. replacements from RockAuto.com. Good shocks never hurt.

Re: MPG after new tires

New rubber needs to "break in" also. The softer compounds & more aggressive tread can kill MPG's. Should see improvement in a few thousand miles.

Re: 2004 limited question

Helps if you know WHO rebuilt it. If they're local to you, easy to find out their reputation. New trans should shift pretty nice. Drive it a while, smell the fluid/look for flakes.

Re: Power windows/c locking

Some folks install washer between the PCM & body (?). Lots of threads online, search bad PCM. Solder joints are probably going out/cracking. New PCM in the U.S. is about $250 USD, good luck.

Re: wheel and tire ??

Stock tire is about that size, so fit shouldn't be an issue. Stock backspace is 6.25"-6", so 5.5"-4.5" would hang them outside a little more. Check for possible rubbing issues on the outer fender. ...

Re: 5x5 to 5x5.5 wheel adapters

It'll actually be 2.5" of backspacing, lower number pushes the wheel away from the vehicle. You should be able to clear the calipers, you'll be out pretty far. HTH

Re: Off-pavement driving v. slotted and/or drilled brake rotors?

Depends on what you wheel in. Mud, I could see possible problems. Dusty desert areas may not see any issues. HTH
