Re: New Owner - Thoughts and questions

Like Coldcase mentionned, I'm one of the guys who just automatically spins the knob to SPORT setting every time I start the vehicle.
I've had mine for one year now, and have over 36000 km on mine....

Re: Keyless entry question.

Whenever I wash mine by hand, the Keys are always inside the vehicle.
And I've never had it unlock/lock on me.
My spare is in the house, so thats why I'm not worried in case it did lock, but so far...

Re: Worth switching to winter tires?

In every vehicle I have owned I always found switching to a dedicated winter tire / wheel combination gave me better handling in the winter.
On my AWD Grand Caravan the Blizzaks were awesome, next...

Re: Jeep " Altitude" in the wild

I think the name Altitude is possibly a mistake.
It SHOULD be "Attitude" as in... this Jeep has ATTITUDE.

Altitude just doesn't make sense. Maybe for a kite or an airplane.

Re: 3 kids

Given the choice of just those two vehicles, with that many young kids, I'd probably go for the Durango.
But if Chrysler still made an AWD Grand Caravan, then I'd go back to that.
I had two of...

Re: Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) sets off Radar Detectors

Radar Detectors are illegal here in Ontario, and possibly in all of Canada, so I don't know if the two conflict.

All I know is given a choice now, I would take the ACC (and FCW) and BSM - both...

Re: For all owners wk2

On my Hemi, it kicks in at 120 MPH.
I've only done it once, the main reason is if you are caught doing 50 kph (30 mph) over the speed limit here in Ontario, you get hit with a "Racing Charge" which...

Re: Why no TOW/HAUL Button on WK2 with Trailer Tow Group?

I would watch the tach, and if the engine keeps kicking in and out of overdrive, (revs go up and down) that would tell me to switch it out of 5th and keep it in 4th. ;)
It will be better overall for...

Nicely done. I think that pretty much summed up my installation too.
Although I did add front and 2nd row mats too, so with appropriate beer breaks, it was a whole day adventure.

I think you...

Re: day time running lights

Re: How much are you paying at the pump to fill up?

I usually stop the pump at $100.00 (and that doesn't fill it)
A fill from Empty is right now about $120.00
that will last me 5 days commute to work, or a weekend trip to see my folks.

That's where I've put my iPhone too. (for now)

Thanks for the tip. Sorry to hear about the damage.
Myself, being anal about parking, door dings, et al, I have thought about this problem a lot.
If I had small children this would be a huge issue....

You could also drain the gas out of your tank - your remote start won't work if the "Low fuel" light is on. ;)

Re: Got Smartbeam?

Yes, the Overland does have the bi-xenon setup.
My previous vehicle had the other system you mentionned - only low-beam Xenon, and the high beams were Halogen.
I like this system better.

Re: DIMM-IT strips... For the bright lights on dash!

Mine are way too bright also. Very annoying. I usually have all my dash lights turned one notch from the bottom (very low) at night.
I too find the high beam, ASC OFF, etc lights very distracting.

I have it, and it took me a week to figure out how it worked.
For instance:
Yeah, the speed has been mentioned. For us in Canada it shuts turns on at about 40 kmh, and turns off at around 30 kmh....

Re: 4x4 in Florida??

I think its pretty unanoumous. :p

In fact I don't even think they should make 2-wheel drive Jeeps
Its kinda like making a boat that can't go in the water, or a plane that doesn't fly.

Re: Fill me in on the proper Jeep terminology.
