Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

The park assist with stop and release is basically a parking aid/safety feature...it's not the parallel self-park function. From the looks of it, the latter will likely not be in the 2016 model year...

Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I hate to say it but...it's almost not worth it to get a 2016 of any flavor. From the looks of it, there are a couple of feature additions and changes, but it's also appearing that some of the...

Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Well...we've also heard about the addition of the acoustic windshield to the Limited...but according to the features list released, it specifically does not have that (only on the Summit again, from...

Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Hmm. I actually thought you couldn't get it on the Summit as it was part or ORA-II (not available on the Summit). I am, of course, unsure of this.

Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Yep. But in the 2016 models there's no pump at all--an electric motor provides the steering assist.

2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Actually, it's the following:

2011-2015 3.6 - hydraulic power assist, electrically driven pump (rather than by engine belt). (early 2011 3.6s had a belt-driven pump).

2014-2015 EcoDiesel --...

Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Looks aside, I'm more curious as to "feel" of the new fully electric power steering. Electric PS systems can be done well, but they're pretty easy to do badly, at present.

Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I've checked the part numbers on the 2015 and it doesn't appear that the overland windshield is acoustic.

Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

So here's a better question. The change list indicates that the Limited models now get an acoustic windshield. The Summit already had this...but what about the Overland models? That would be a bit...

Are the 2016 order banks ACTUALLY open now? I noticed Milous hasn't indicated that yet.

Huh. It appears you can't get the HK audio on the overland again (at least from those links I wasn't given the option).

2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Okay, so let's take what Marlon said as a possible hint. That might make sense -- I believe FCA has always had the plan of doing the 8HP70 in-house as well as the 8HP45 (which became the 845RFE) as a...

Adaptive Bi-Xenon HID on 2015 JGC not bright enough, especially on turns

I said it was a nitpick. :). I do automotive systems engineering among other things and it just makes the hair on my neck stand up when I see people say "CANBUS" instead of CAN bus. That, and when...

Adaptive Bi-Xenon HID on 2015 JGC not bright enough, especially on turns

This is just a nitpick here, only said because I've reached a threshold of some kind when I see people say "CANBUS system." There's no such thing in the context of what's being said. While it is true...

Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Order banks for the 2015s just closed. They're still building those -- no 2016s are being produced yet and won't be for some time yet.

Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

A "launch" to most auto...

Re: 2016 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Likely almost nonexistent, or completely nonexistent. The changes appear to be some interior, and on the component level, not exterior.

New: 2015 Grand Cherokee High Altitude Edition

Re: Hang around the barber shop long enough...

The bars don't really represent distance. They're actually a measure of time and distance (which relates to distance but changes depending on the speed). For example (and these may not be the actual...

Re: Problem w Air Suspension - Has anyone heard this CLUNK noise?

It's mounted on isolators. However...that seems like really excessive movement. It might be loose or the isolators have deteriorated. Worth checking because the alternative is the compressor is dying.

Re: Problem w Air Suspension - Has anyone heard this CLUNK noise?

Either the compressor is about to eat itself, or it has somehow become loose in its mounting. I'd check the latter first.

Re: Weird whining noise when going in reverse.

Both my 2014 and 2015 have done this. It's kind of a humming/rubbing noise in reverse that you can sometimes feel too. My dealer service manager and I went and tried out a bunch of 2014/2015 WK2s,...

Re: "Click" felt through steering wheel (brakes?)

"Click" felt through steering wheel (brakes?)

I had the same occasional "click" feeling in the steering wheel on my 2015 Overland under the same circumstances. Noticed it at around 2-3000 miles. By 6-7000 miles or so it was gone and hasn't...

Don't believe everything you read on the Internet :D. The "deposits" you are referring to are oil breakdown byproducts and heat coking. They aren't "dirt" per se, but oxidation of the existing oil....

True about the better breakdown resistance for a quality synthetic using a good base. Not really true on the "running cleaner" part. Oil gets "dirty" mostly because of contamination with combustion...
