Without the skid plates, you should definitely use something like flex conduit to protect the wires underneath. I'm not sure what the Limiteds are like under there so you may need to get creative...

BTW, we keep a photocopy of pages 541 to 546 of the Operators Manual in the glove box of the Jeep. They describe the step by step process of going into and out of neutral in the transfer case.
