Snuke, the car developed a knock in the front end when the suspension topped out. I couldn't pin it down to front or rear, but the dealer identified 3 dud shocks and one shock mount.

It makes a huge difference. You can feel it when it works, especially over rocks. Interesting watching it lock/unlock on the drivetrain page, too.

If it's a yellow sensor I'd be VERY careful, as yellow is universal for airbag sensors.

I don't think so. I seriously doubt that the car would be so sensitive to mode selections. No manufacturer would build a vehicle that would be so sensitive to minor mode changes or have a DPF system...
