Re: leather vs. pleather

Seriously? So the ML always has crappier leather than the GC leather?

Also, can someone shine light on the Summit's leather vs the Overland's?

Re: Issue free

I have certainly had some cars that had no issues before fairly high mileage. An old Acura Integra and my Jeep ZJ come to mind. My Jaguar was a bucket of bolts that had constant issues (including a...

Re: V-6 or V-8, regrets?

Well, what Mercedes did on the M class (a sibling of the JGC, by the way) is offer the ML550 with a turbo V8 and then the AMG with a more powerful turbo V8. No reason that the SRT can't still stay...

Re: V-6 or V-8, regrets?

Doesn't have to be on the same hemi engine. This engine is due for replacement anyway. A well designed turbo V8 as a top level option would be a huge selling point for Jeep and would definitely...

Re: V-6 or V-8, regrets?

The RR that puts the hemi to shame is a supercharged V8, not the supercharged V6. I would certainly welcome a supercharged V8. The supercharged V6 on the RRS gets times similar to the hemi, as does...

Re: V-6 or V-8, regrets?

We're long lost siblings. :) I considered the same cars and also picked Jeep specifically because of the V8. I would have gone for the SRT if they were equally capable offroad.

Now that you...

Re: V-6 or V-8, regrets?

Hemi and will always opt for the V8/larger engine if given the option. I drive a ton (24k+ miles/year) and the hemi makes the car enjoyable, particularly when combined with the air suspension. Have...

Re: If you were to give up your GC today, what would you get?

Not only does it have it, iirc it is exactly the same as what is on the JGC. But if someone can demonstrate that it is significantly worse offroad than a JGC then I might have to rethink this. But...

Re: WK 2 is a little scary with all the problems especially SRT

It is bizarre. If they said "pay $20 out of pocket to take a loaner instead of bothering with the car rental company" I would have done it and been much happier. It isn't the money, it is the time...

Re: If you were to give up your GC today, what would you get?

Considered each one.

Cayenne - to spec it out to be the equivalent of a JGC Summit you're looking at an obscene amount of money. In general, the base cost is reasonable but any additions/upgrades...

That's not really a direction that is viable if one wants to play in the $50k+ SUV market.

Re: WK 2 is a little scary with all the problems especially SRT

I would agree with this. Even at the upper trims, the JGC is a fantastic value and a great vehicle. In fact, the current vehicle I'm looking at (the Mercedes ML400) has some disadvantages. And the...

Actually, have been continuing to investigate this as additional nonsense continues to pop up (squeak in the suspension, rattle for passenger headrest, etc.). Jeep service continues to suck.

Re: Welp...RWD Grand Cherokee's are basically useless off road

Re: Is there any feature you can do without or a must have!

The funny thing is that most features on my list weren't in my previous vehicle and at the time I was fine with that. Now they're all "must haves". Funny how that happens.

Re: Welp...RWD Grand Cherokee's are basically useless off road

Re: Welp...RWD Grand Cherokee's are basically useless off road

Not if I were silly enough to buy one with a small engine. It isn't like it was unknown that it had 2WD.

Example: the base Cayenne with the base engine and no air suspension. Yuck.

Not necessarily. There are weight/balance considerations that make RWD attractive.

That said, I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would get a 2WD Jeep. That would be like getting...
