Re: oil catch can

Slightly off topic, but I also tried putting a restrictor on the EGR.

Initially I added a plate with just a small 3/16" (I think from memory) hole drilled in it- got codes after a while saying low...

Re: oil catch can

I've had my can on for about a year now, oil quantity caught seems similar to what you guys are saying. The line downstream of the can is almost dry- just a slight oily film on the tube walls,...

Re: LED Light Bar Build Thread - Pic Heavy

Love your work!
The Jeep HID low beam is fabulous, the high beam very ordinary, without add-ons.

I did the same thing many years ago (in the '70's) with a pair of Cibie Super Oscars behind the...

Re: Jeep service costs

I'm right with you on that, very similar thoughts, I refuse to pay extortionate service prices when I KNOW that the quality of service is quite often well below par.
Some more thoughts:

Re: Engine oil level above the MAX

Agreed 100%!

What's so hard about lifting the dipstick slightly to break the seal, really dead easy once you know what to do.

I for one am certainly not recommending removing the O ring.
It...

Re: Engine oil level above the MAX

I think you're not alone SeaBee, many will find this confusing, and probably add oil which does NOT need to be added.
Once upon a time, dipsticks didn't have O rings, and this problem would never...

Re: Reliability of the 2015 Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel

Ditto for my Jan 14 build 3.0 diesel.

Minor software updates for minor problems, nothing else at all.

Couldn't be much happier, and would buy another in a heart beat if mine was ever stolen or...

Re: Engine oil level above the MAX

Look at my earlier post on checking the oil level. Let it sit for a decent period, (overnight is good) then just carefully crack the O ring seal on the dipstick, no more than that, (it's only a few...

Re: Jeep service costs

If anything, I'd do the very first oil change EARLIER than recommended. There is a lot of metal in any diff, gearbox etc from new, due to the wearing (running) in process.

As for Penrite- check...

Re: Engine oil level above the MAX

And me.
Do it exactly like that, and you won't have issues.
Let it sit overnight. Then:
There is an O ring on the dipstick which creates an airlock. Just raise the dipstick enough to get the O...

Re: Question on lights and radio operation - GC 2014

I HATE the glare from fog lights, some cars being much worse than others.

Well, not really, whilst the design isn't what I'd call great, since I went to another brand of filter ("Wesfill"), I haven't had any problems.

I'll look on Amazon and see what the shipping cost will be.

Re: Cabin Air Filters - OEM Charcoal Part# 68260792AA

Fair enough.

However at this stage for me personally, I wouldn't be too concerned with a non charcoal filter. The charcoal's absorbent properties would have a very finite life expectancy.
