Re: Aftermarket radio install problems

I think for the most part all the harnesses from last year will still work. Like you said if you reposition the screw holes by some means the bracket from last year can also be used as the actual...

Re: Aftermarket radio install problems

I did. They said good luck. The only units they recommended were single din sizes and they said that I would have to make my own mounting bracket to use one of those.

Re: Aftermarket radio install problems

Quite a bit different than the WK. If I did this right there should be a pic attached of the dash with the radio removed. The shiny bracket of metal behind the plastic piece can be removed without...

Re: Aftermarket radio install problems

That's encouraging. Now I have a thousand questions......So you trimmed just from the top. Did you have to cut into the screw holes any and how did you secure the head unit to the dash frame? Did you...

Re: Jeep Antenna

Perhaps the new antenna will be a simple screw on replacement for the old one.

Re: Aftermarket radio install problems

I wish it was bigger. That is much easier to deal with. A simple bracket with space fillers takes care of that. Having a smaller opening is a real pain as it involves modifying the support structures...

Re: Jeep Antenna

I guess that's the price one pays for being an early generation buyer.

Re: Aftermarket radio install problems

Not surface work but support surgery. The surface opening is fine, in fact about a half inch of added filler is required on each side just as in prior years. The problem is the plastic frame that the...

Re: Aftermarket radio install problems

You're probably right but I'm a little upset that jeep has made their radio such a pain to customize now after so many years of being very installer friendly.
It is now very difficult to use a DD...

Re: Jeep Antenna

Were they both 2011's? I thought all the antennas were the same for 2011.

Re: Appropriate size subwoofer?

The factory sub location is in the space at the right rear where you have a storage pocket now. It may be possible to mount a 10" or 12" in that location and that size seems to be about right for...

Aftermarket radio install problems

I removed the panel to access the radio to determine the space afforded for installing an aftermarket radio in place of the media center 130 that is there now and I discovered a few obstacles.
It...

Re: Found the Battery (pics)...

Great info and pics. I was wondering if someone with the Alpine amp could take a peek in the box and see if it is stashed away in there. I'm figuring it's either there or in the back quarter behind...

Re: Has anyone purchased & installed MYGIG in a 2011?

I've got my Z110(soon to be a 120 after the update is done) ready to go. I'm just trying to find out all the changes that have been made from the 2010 to 2011 model. With forums like this and helpful...

Re: Has anyone purchased & installed MYGIG in a 2011?

I take it if the pinouts are the same then the PAC and Metra harnesses should work with the 2011 models as the UCI and USB data pins are not needed. I guess all that's left is to fabricate a new...

Re: Has anyone purchased & installed MYGIG in a 2011?

Thanks Milous. That seems to mean that the aftermarket radio swaps are going to have to be put on hold also. If the pinouts are different that means the PAC canbus harness may not work depending on...

Re: Found the Battery (pics)...

Never knew this spot existed. It seems like one could place some amps under the driver seat in the tub and run the power cables right across to the passenger side and tap right off the battery...

Re: Has anyone purchased & installed MYGIG in a 2011?

I just saw this post after responding in another with a similar question. So we will need a new bracket to mount a double din unit that has screw holes on the top I guess?
What about the harness in...

Re: Want to do Double Din stereo install. Help?

I too have a 2011 GC and wanted to replace the stock base radio.
Does the 2011 instrument bezel uninstall like the prior years with just a flat tool wedged between the surfaces or did jeep add any...
