Re: Idiling in extreemly cold weather

I had mine shut off for 6-8 hours at a time at -40 and starting was never an issue. Usually I would try to park near a barrier to block the wind or perpendicular to the wind.

Re: Idiling in extreemly cold weather

My CRD started well below -36 with the block heater. Take the time to make up something for a winter front, I used some cardboard painted black and zip tied it behind the grill. It makes a big...

Re: New Turbo and hoses....

If you live in any northern climate don't install a catch can. The filter can freeze and block the flow of air making excessive crank case pressure causing oil to shoot out of the dip stick. Guess...

Re: Grand Cherokee CRD performance thread

I can't recall hearing of anyone with the handheld tuner, best to call InMotion directly with your questions.

Re: Bully Dog performance gear

Go with something like InMotion for a custom tune. As for a gauge I don't know if there's anything on the market that can pull up proper data for anything you would actually want to monitor for the...

Re: Turbo oil leak (probably)

Pretty sure the DPF's were not added until 07 when the CRD was also available in North America. 05-06 UK models would not have had a DPF and would spec different oils. Time to get a hold of a proper...

Re: Just browsing Jeep.com Europe, and WOW, why would you buy a HEMI?!

I think the big reason for the higher cost in fuel is the cost for all the refineries to switch over to ULSD production. As more and more have switched over the supply has gone up and the costs have...

Re: Why do we have to wait till 2013 for CRD?

The 08 CRD my g/f now drives was a Laredo. Though it seems that most dealers are ordering them with a few options, so the only way to get a bone CRD is to do an order.

Changing the rear dif fluid on the 08 CRD I noticed the tubing to the vent was broken. Got some tubing to replace it and decided to check the vent for obstructions. Turns out it wasn't drilled out...

Re: some general questions about the crd

Having driven the Hemi and owned a CRD I'd stick with the CRD. Driving diesel gives a different feel than gas but once you adapt it's great. Towing is the same for both but you'll get noticeably...

Pretty sure it's 10,000km for schedule B and 20,000km for A. I stick with 10,000km but since a lot of dealerships are clueless you need to make sure they use the proper oil. Pretty sure most use...

Re: TRIED SEARCHING offset, lift, tires need advice

Keep in mind 2008, 2009 and 2010 have a portion of the calipers sticking out a bit further so a lot of wheels wont clear. Though you can always take a grinder to wherever it rubs.

Re: Any news about the new VM Diesel Engine for the WK2

Re: 3ltr CRD oil type

I use the Amsoil 5W-40 European Formula in my CRD. I wouldn't worry about using 5W-40 vs 5W-30 since Benz now specifies only 5W-40 for the exact same engine. And who are you going to trust, Benz who...

Re: Dipstick Needs HID Help

4300k gives the most usable light and is closest to natural light. From a pure usability standpoint I'd go with 4300k lows and 3000k fogs.
