Re: Engine oil question?

Synthetic does run cleaner because it doesn't leave as many deposits as dino does.

Re: Engine oil question?

The major difference between Dino and Synthetic is that synthetic doesn't break down as soon as dino and it runs cleaner than dino. It costs a bit more but you get what you pay for. Your choice.;)

Re: Low Mileage Service Requirements

If you have a '11 thru '13, and you want to replace your coolant, remember to only use a HOAT type coolant. The only one I have found is Zerex or the Mopar brand, sold at dealers. Its expensive. Do...

Re: Its the dipstick! On the hemi

I was one of the lucky ones that had the oil burning smoke on startup. I had the oil pan and windage tray replaced. When I discovered the dip stick read incorrect, Chrysler claimed that I was the...

Re: 2015 Limited V6 loses dual exhaust

Agreed. The temps of a v6 exhaust gasses, by the time it reaches the tailpipe, has cooled down to the point that the need for duals is just a waste.

Re: WK2 - New battery type and location

I hear ya. I also think its all about space. Handling.... not so much.

Re: WK2 - New battery type and location

This Jeep is not a sports car. Its a vehicle that hauls and can have up to 5 people in it, along with cargo. A low mount 50lb battery is not going to do a thing to help any performance with a load.

Re: WK2 - New battery type and location

I thought that too but the passenger compartment gets well over 150 degrees just sitting on a hot day. I believe that space was the main factor.

Re: WK2 - New battery type and location

I still don't buy the notion that the battery is placed under the seat for handling. It only weighs 50 lbs. If you put a 200 lb passenger in the jeep it negates any "balance" a 50 lb battery might...

Re: How is Your High Mileage WK2 Holding Up?

I have 60k on mine and it was nothing but trouble for the first 40k miles. The problems are too numerous to mention. After this Jeep is done, I'm going back to Chevy.

Re: V8s- Which gas do you use?

Exactly! So many people get sucked into the marketing hype that claims more power, and better mileage. It's pure BS that the marketing people like to put out there.

Re: V8s- Which gas do you use?

I used 87 at first, but switched to 89 and it runs much smoother. My fishbite is just about gone. Octane does nothing for gas mileage so don't think you will get better mileage. But if you are...

Re: Slight wiff of Gear oil or grease on new 2015 Overland

Other than a leak, thats the only way oil vapors come out of the diffs. You must have a smell coming from somewhere else besides the diffs.

Re: Slight wiff of Gear oil or grease on new 2015 Overland

Just remember that your diffs have a vent tube that comes off the diff to vent for oil expansion. ;)

Re: 2011 Towing/Camper questions

I would not tow at the max weight rating. Thats just me. The JGC is really not the vehicle to tow a 28 - 31 foot anything. Look at pickups.

Re: For 5.7L HEMI: what octane rating of gas do you use?
