Also check front axles. I had a 96 Dodge Dakota IFS 4x4, I had a torn axle boot, dried out joint. So could be that?

U-joints and drive shaft are one piece on the wk's. Dealer first changed drive shaft, did not fix the problem. Then kept the jeep for a couple more days only to find out it was the TC

Had that happen to my 09 3.7l ended up being torque converter. Covered under lifetime power train warranty
