I would say that is way too much tire for a 2.5" lift. I don't know the offset differences on a Rubicon wheel but when I was at 2.5" 245/70/17 "just" fit.

You should only have to swap input shafts if you're swapping a 6cy case to a v8 or vice versa because they use different transmissions.
