Re: Buzzing after Shut Off

It's the DEF system doing it's thing post shut down. First time we heard it in the garage it sounded like our alarm keypad beeping in the house.

Re: Diesel reliability for short trips

Lol, I do agree the Pentastar is anemic at times. But even after banging around in my 700 HP Shelby, my 2wd Pentastar is still very smooth and feels great on the road!

Re: Diesel reliability for short trips

I'll share my story with you! I'm a manual reader (the fun stuff, not about the "this is how you roll down the windows" stuff!), and with my 2012 Ram Cummins, I was all into the mechanics and...

Re: Diesel reliability for short trips

Arguably a tough duty cycle on any engine for many reasons. I just feel the diesel won't even get thoroughly warmed up. IF that driving duty cycle doesn't lead to more active regens, I don't know...

Re: Diesel reliability for short trips

You are correct. We won't get an EVIC message for a normal regen. The EVIC only warns if the DPF is getting too "clogged".

OP, I would consider the gas V6 for ur purposes, unless of course, you...

Re: Engine Idling

It would be nice for the GC to idle after "cutoff" if it was needed. My Ram could be programmed to do just that, with an aftermarket tune.

Re: Diesel reliability for short trips

You mean you haven't had a DPF message from the EVIC?

I can promise you've had some regens. I've had several I know about in 3600 miles. You can tell as the MPGs drop while cruising, and you...

Re: Diesel reliability for short trips

Given your driving habits, no doubt you'll get the DPF warning. As long as you can put in some highway miles, the DPF will regen ok.

As much as I love our diesel, if I was in your situation, and...

Re: For anyone thinking about opticoat

If I remember, it's about $70 or so, and I would recommend watching several youtube videos on the application. It's not rocket science, but you don't want to leave "high" spots on the paint.

Re: GC vs Land Cruiser vs Range Rover

^^ I agree. When you consider a RRS that's maybe 1-2 years old, or even a used LC, or Lexus for that matter, you can find a "cherry" that some person drove to "the club" for a more reasonable...

I threw in the LC, because I've always liked them, and they perform well off road, though they don't look very distinguished to me these days. Also, I found one near me, a leftover 13 for 69K,...

Re: GC vs Land Cruiser vs Range Rover

However,...

As for dealer network, if you're talking about adding dealers, I must be lucky in that I have 1 dealer 4 miles away, and 2 more 20 miles away.

My 2500 Ram/Cummins 4x4 would not go through that in 2wd with the stock "onions" either. Now with Toyo MTs, it's impressive in the red VA. clay!

Re: Arrrgghhh! Beaten by a rav 4!

I saw a review in which a V6 Rav4 scampered to 60 in 6.3 seconds. Power to weight is in play as well.

You're gonna have your work cut out for ya on that one.

For me, other than inclement weather, I don't really care too much about off roading in a GC, or RRS. There is no way on God's green Earth, I'm going wheeling on my 55k+ SUV!! LOL

Re: Do you find yourself having to make a lot of slight steering corrections?

I'm only going by what the OP said. At times, the road itself will cause even my Shelby to act crazy. Even different "road crowns" cause probably everyone to question front-end alignment at times....

Re: GC vs Land Cruiser vs Range Rover

I still can't believe what a quantum leap Jeep made in the GC from 10-11. It felt like 10 years worth of development. (I had a 10 for a short while. It was my beater.)

Re: GC vs Land Cruiser vs Range Rover

I was being somewhat facetious. I was so impressed with the 11 and up GCs, that I've often said the interior was stolen from RR. Down to the piping around the seats.

Not being a smart butt at all.....but it sounds like you're describing the act of driving!

Watch anyone drive, the steering wheel is almost constantly in some kind of slight motion.
