Re: So who needs a starscan tool when you can get this....

I see this is a pretty old thread but, since then, there is newer/better computerized diagnostic scanners available. I got tired of just being able to read and clear codes and wanted something that...

Re: 3.7l performance love

Jeff, I think you need to get a shift kit for that NAG1. Sounded like some pretty sloppy shifts. And, while you're at it, get a Mercedes pan to put on the tranny too. It'll make the fluid/filter...

Re: I hate how my Jeep shifts

You've sure got that right. The best way I've found to fix it, without tearing down the transmission, is to add the Sonnax Line Pressure Booster and purchase a Superchips Tuner with the Advanced...

Re: Switching to Synthetic Oil in High Mileage Engine

Like I said in my Post No. 23, with 253+K miles, it may be time to start thinking about some major engine work if you plan to keep the vehicle. For sure it's time to have someone that is...

Re: Switching to Synthetic Oil in High Mileage Engine

I would think that at 253K+ miles you'd probably be needing a heavier oil. What weight oil were you running with the synthetic? 5W30 seems a little light to me. Can you tell where the knock is coming...

Re: Switching to Synthetic Oil in High Mileage Engine

First, you're in the wrong forum. This is the later model Jeep forum. Second, check the oil level and make sure it is full. Third, look for oil leaks, as sometimes switching to synthetic at high...

Re: 2006 5.7 Trans shift problems

Just a heads up.....the Transmission Control Module (TCM) is an integral part of the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), and is only replaceable as a unit. R and R of this unit (located on the right...

Re: service Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems.HELP

I can't imagine that Jeep is still using the same system they had in 2005-2007 but, if they are, just have them make sure that the TPMS sensor ID numbers for each of your wheels (and spare) are the...

Re: Cold air intake

IMO, that's a good decision. I am not sure but, if your airbox is the same as the 4.7/5.7's, it is capable of flowing around 700 cfm of air though it. Your 3.7 (~226 cu. in.) is only capable of...

Re: Need a picture

Road Magnet is a different brand of spring. They may be very similar though. I don't know anything about them or their quality. Eibach has been around forever and has a good rep. I used Eibach SRT...

Re: Tranny temp with scangauge on 5.7

Don't know for sure with the Scangauge, but the DashHawk has a PID for trans. temp. Only problem is that it doesn't work properly with the 545RFE. It does work properly on my Hemi LX with the NAG1...

Re: Tune Up

You'll be OK with the EGR Valve by doing as dmsfun says.

No, I was talking about not breaking the PCV Valve off in the housing. You'll see how easy it would be to break once you get the old one...

Re: Recommendation 05 WK hemi

With your limitations, there is not a lot you can do. In the "old" days we used to have a cutout welded in (on the WK it must be behind the rear O2 Sensors and in front of the muffler), and either...

Re: Oil plug stripped

If you've seen one of these valves, that would be almost impossible. The rock or stick would have to lift the lever and turn the valve at the same time, which in reality is a little more difficult...

Re: Noob Alert - VOlant Intake Question

The coil/valve cover swap doesn't do anything except clean it up a little more and make it look like the 06's>. The only reason I am going to try to do it is because I have that extra set of late...

Re: Flat battery again..and again..and again..etc.

No, a trickle charger won't show anything. They're a good slow charge for an otherwise good battery though. If you're charging it for hours on end and all it does is heat up the battery and the...

Re: Mods for the Adventurous Experimenters

Well, let's revive this old thread!! I have now added the SLP 25% UD pulley and a BBK true 85mm throttle body. Neither of these mods. appear to make much difference using the "seat of the pants"...

Re: Lowered??

I have the Eibach SRT lowering springs/sways, Billsteins, and SRT bumpers on mine. We seldom have more than ~4-6 inches of snow on the ground at any time, so clearance hasn't been a problem.....so...

Re: 06 4.7 slightly high engine temp- i need your help

Since you did the obvious, I think I'd focus on the sensor. Probably wouldn't cost too much.

On the idle, when's the last time the EGR Valve was changed? Do you have a way of testing or at least...

Re: Balancer/Damper issues

I'll agree, don't remove the radiator/fan assemblies, unless you absolutely have to. They are a genuine pain in the a$$, both off and on. Are you replacing with a stock damper/pulley, or installing...

Mods for the Adventurous Experimenters

A while back on the "Official mpg" thread I indicated I'd do a thread for the more adventurous experimenters among us. I'll start by saying that, of all the mods. I've done to both of my Hemi...

Re: Cam Swap Writeups?

I did a cam swap on my 5.7 WK and am currently in the process (about 75% done) of doing the same on my 5.7 LX. Don't know how your side (valve cover to fenderwell) clearances are with the 4.7, but on...

Re: whats the best lowering "kit" for my Hemi

I use mine as the daily driver most of the time. IMO, it's a lot more fun to drive than my Hemi LX. even though it doesn't get as good fuel economy. I wouldn't hesitate to do this mod. again if I had...

Re: whats the best lowering "kit" for my Hemi

I used Eibach SRT lowering springs and SRT sway bars front and rear. The shock/struts are all Billstein. Handles like it's on rails now, a little more harsh than stock, but not by any means...

I just got back from a 1600 mile trip and check run for the new FRI Sidewinder cam I installed. The low end performance hasn't changed much from stock, but the mid and top end is noticeably better. I...

Report it to the DS folks. No one will ever be able to use it but you. Once DS has your S/N as stolen they won't unlock it for anyone else. Also, you'll probably have to wait and see if it turns up,...

Oxygen Sensors and Their Role in Engine Management--A Primer

I am doing this thread due to my recent experience with the Oxygen Sensors (O2) on my Hemi WK. I’ll explain how and why I became very interested in this, and the results of my research and actions....
