Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Hi Dave,

I did have the problem you describe a couple of times with the hemi.
When it happened to me the Jeep was parked on a fairly steep hill. It also blew quite a bit of smoke. I've since...

Re: Jeep service costs

Let me guess - Albion CJD?

They quoted me $740 some months ago for my 24k service. I queried it and also reminded them that they only charged me $500 for the 12k which is essentially the same, but...

Re: Alarm

Here's how I managed to set it off
Leave the window down and lock the car. Then reach through the open window and it went off.

Re: 5.7 hemi supercharger

I reckon the SRT pulls better times because of the "launch control". Not quite sure exactly what it does though...

Shame you won't have the GC ready for your Straddie trip...
If you are really keen to test it out as soon as you get it you could always do a day trip to Bribie. The inland access track is pretty...

I was using Albion happily for years until they quoted me over $700 for my 24k service. Crazy because they only charged me circa $500 for my 12k...

Re: SAND driving - Have you had a problem with your GC?

Hey, I would also get them to check the air suspension. As far as I know the classic symptoms of the serv 4wd error do not include the air suspension warning (and I've experienced the serv 4wd issue...

Re: SAND driving - Have you had a problem with your GC?

Sounds like it was a lemon. If it was the infamous serv 4wd error you would have seen the message displayed on the EVIC. Whatever the problem was it must be related to the oil pressure warning you...

Re: 2012 Overland 5.7 0-60 run

My interpretation of this is that the "OR" applies only to engines without MDS (i.e. not the 5.7 hemi). Particularly because if you select any gear other than "D" (i.e. 5 or 6) with the hemi then the...

Re: Diablosport inTune - very underwhelming so far. help?

I guess you could risk $125 on the hemifever tune, and if you still don't like it you can return the tuner and have only lost $125. I've not tried it but feedback on the hemifever tunes is...

Re: Updated Oil Pan

I'm not sure of the difference between old and new oil pan, but to get the "complete" fix you also need to convince your dealer to apply the software update to the PCM (as per TSB).

Re: Jeep service costs

Sorry if this has been covered recently GlennR, but how what did you do to get the Jeep running cooler - is it because of different oil or some different coolant?

Re: Are 3 car seats in back possible?

I've got 3 in mine, no problems. The only difficulty is getting to the buckle if one of them is a booster seat (which one of mine is). For that I got a seat belt extender (ordered from Mopar).

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

That's right a locking diff or transfer case can transfer 100% of available torque to a single wheel/axle. But using brakes to brake a wheel without traction would divide torque 50/50 as the brake...

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Since this is a sand driving thread - to me a softroader is a vehicle in which you would not dare to confidently drive on the likes of Fraser or Moreton Island (other than the hard wet sand).

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

There is not one single aspect of a ladder chassis that would make the vehicle that sits on top of it a "better" 4x4 than a vehicle with unibody.

The crucial aspects are height and 4wd system...

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

GC is not a softroader  I would class anything without low range and/or some sort of locking centre diff or transfer case as a softroader. Like the ASX, cx7, xtrail, dualis, kluger, rav4,...
