Re: Ecodiesels with >50K miles - changes in experience

From new until about 44k mine had what most on here call "Fish Bites". Its a quick repetitive shudder while accelerating. It feels like running over the rumble strip on the road's edge at maybe 5...

Yep...thats the nature of forums. All man-made products have issues. I'd rather know than not know. I can sleep at night even knowing the world may fall apart tomorrow.

Re: Ecodiesels with >50K miles - changes in experience

Dom,

What symptoms did you have? My motor has some clatter at 1500 rpm and a slight harmonic vibration. It almost feels like a loose motor mount. I'm at 63k on a very early 2014 build. It still...

Re: Diesel compression technology during deceleration

Diesels have much higher compression than gas motors. What they lack is a throttle plate. Gassers have better engine braking because they can't pump more air through the motor when the throttle is...

Re: Diesel compression technology during deceleration

Sure, thd CRD has natural engine braking and more if you (or the ECM) upshifts....but there is nothing mechanical other than engine friction to assist. It is much less than a gasser. On a steep hill,...

Re: Ecodiesels with >50K miles - changes in experience

I have one of the earliest built 14's with 62k. Besides the 2 Cats (last one was the improved cat), I've had no other problems. I have the 8yr/120k warranty.

Re: Service Electronic Throttle Control 2014 Grand Cherokee

I think I fixed it. I cleaned my MAF sensor located in the intake runner. No more issues but time will tell.

Re: Incorrect DEF - See dealer

Yes, all exhaust systems accumulate water from the air as they cool down. Short trips make it worse since the moisture never dries out completely.

Re: Fix for capless filler

Roadkill,

Are you saying the DEF nozzle was dirty? I would advise against using DEF from a contaminated nozzle. A few parts per million of contaminant can taint our DEF causing chrystals.

Re: Blackstone UOA - Rotella T5

Your vehicle regens every 150 to 300 miles...period. What you saw was an 80% full forced regen warning. I have 30k miles and have never had that EVIC message. I use the suggested oil.

This may...

Re: Check your air filter

Bad, bad, bad! Poor filtration on a diesel leads to premature engine wear if you operate in less than pristine conditions. Lots of discussion on this.
