Re: installed hids, now windows dont work, headlights dont work.

I had the xtreme hid kit from xenondepot in my Jeep, no issues at all and came with everything needed. I wouldn't bother with the highs unless you use them alot.

Re: installed hids, now windows dont work, headlights dont work.

I had a couple main fuses blow when I tried using some cheap cancellers for a set of HIDs I had. It wouldn't do anything at all. I forget the fuse number now as it's been a few years. I'd start with...

Re: Ever seen a real underseat sub?

Great idea, but depending on your options, some people have modules in that area.

Re: Front end rattle over bumps

Tie rod end, shock bolts, ball joints, etc...all can create a rattle even if they are just a little loose.
I had a small rattle in the front end after an alignment and found a tie rod end about a...

Re: Removing Badges

I used a heat gun and a wide trim tool, popped them off real easy with most of the adhesive. Rolled some of the heavier stuff off with my fingers, goo gone the rest, and some quick detail spray to...

Re: WK2 Service Manual

The official Jeep manual is from techauthority, back in '06 the service manual for the LX was a .pdf file. The newer manuals are searchable and more interactive.
If I were to buy a manual, I'd get...

Re: WK2 Service Manual

I printed the service manual for my 2006 Charger and it was almost 700 pages. There is no way they can get all that info in a book easy enough and cheap enough for people to buy and reference. Cars...

Might try the for sale section, there isn't one just for wheels. I recall seeing a set for sale recently too.

Re: 6.1 swap

Heads, cam, headers, and a torque converter will keep you under 8k. You can also do a stroker too.

Re: American racing headers

I hope their WK2 headers aren't like the WK1 where it went under the transmission...what a pain in the ass those are to install. Nice quality headers though.

Re: cam

I'd contact HHP, Modern Muscle, or Demon Performance to spec a cam for you. Comp has a few cams, I had the comp274 in my 300 but not sure how well that would work in a Jeep.

Re: Laughable Price for Brake Job

A lot of rotors these days aren't as thick as they used to be and depending, can't be surfaced without becoming out of spec. That being said, you are usually good for at least one brake change before...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Altitude Headlight Stain?

I don't see anything obvious either. Since it's a '14, as long as it's under 36k you should be able to take it in for warranty.

Didn't know about that site, just shows that there are multiple places to get LEDs. I have a couple more to add/replace in my Jeep. Hopefully I can find some time this weekend.

Re: Good oil to use?

15w-50 is speced by SRT for 6.1's where customers complain about lifter noise in the warmer months, so thicker oil can still be ran on certain engines.

Re: Drowning

Shit broke bad, you'll need a new intake too, it's nearly impossible to clean all the debris out of a 5.7 intake if anything got in there.

I'm with Scott, the 8 speed in my Jeep has been flawless so far. The 9 speed in my 200 has been fine as well.

Re: Anyone try an 8HP70 trans swap into pre-2013 WK2?

There's a lot of stuff that we do swap, explore, explode, adapt, and overcome but we also know when it just isn't worth it cause someone has either done it or we researched the sh!t out of it.

Re: Couple of questions

No pry bar needed, there is an opening for a 3/8" rachet. So a 3/8" breaker bar or a 3/8" rachet with a long handle would work. You can also get the belt tool at harbor freight for less than 20 bucks...

Re: Anyone try an 8HP70 trans swap into pre-2013 WK2?

It's been discussed before and pretty much not worth it. Physically getting the transmission in there isn't an issue. It's the TCM, PCM, and all the other modules that need to be reprogrammed to make...

Re: Mobil 1 oil vs. Pennzoil

It doesn't really matter on the brand. Chrysler and Mobil's contract fell apart when Chrysler filed for bankruptcy. The 6.1 can use 0w-40, 5,w40, and even 15w-50 if the customer complains about...

Re: Oil getting on air filter

It's something that happens right away. In your case then, something is causing pressure to build up in the crankcase.

Re: My jeep starts on 3rd gear

An 'off the shelf' scanner that you can get at most parts stores will not read transmission codes. Take it to the dealer or to someone that has a scanner that can read the transmission codes.

Re: Oil getting on air filter

If you pour the oil in took quick during an oil change, it can back up and go through the hose that's connected to the airbox.
