From the horse's mouth (Mike Manley, Jeep CEO), looks like it's a reality in 2017.

Gents,

Unlike most of the people here I own both a grand Cherokee (overland) and a charger hellcat. One of the perks of owning a hellcat is getting the SRT track day in which you can drive all the SRT models.

And on a race course, driving the normal 6.4 versions, I was so happy I bought the charger and not the challenger, until I drove the jeep SRT. It just handles better then both the charger and challenger and the four wheel drive system gets you out of turns in the most amazing driver gratifying way. I remember thinking, if they only made the jeep with a hellcat........

And now they did, and if it will have a four wheel drive system that matches what I experienced on the "tame" JEEP SRT, it will be a blast to drive.
As we speak I'm plotting ways to build a bigger garage so I can have both ?

What made you prefer the Hellcat Charger over the Hellcat Challenger?

Look at my signature, I already have a two door coupe. Not to mention that the charger is 1% faster and handles really better. Both true but irrelevant.
I think it's a better looking car. And IT IS THE FATEST PRODUCTION SEDAN IN THE WORLD. That will give me some stories for the grand kids one day.

Many of us have only one car for everything. Therefore, it needs to be both fast and serve as an SUV. Plus, if you have a sports car and a slow SUV, what are you taking on long road trips? For people like me, the ideal is something like the Cayenne Turbo - a car that is legit fast but can still function as an SUV. My main gripe with the Cayenne Turbo isn't actually the purchase cost (I can stomach that), but rather the upkeep/repair costs. Given how many miles I drive per year that is a bridge too far.

I'm not swimming in money. That's why the SRT made sense for me. It's fast, relatively roomy, and can tow 7k. What car can do that?

Oh no I wasn't saying anyone is swimming in money. I'm just saying I'd rather have a fast car "if" I had the money to have a SUV and a fast car which I don't at the moment. All I own is a Altitude and a leased bone stock low end Jetta. Far from fast lol. There was a point where I had a modded FJ Cruiser and a heavily modded/supercharged 2011 M3. Had best of both worlds but times have changed. For me I have no desire to go fast in a SUV is all I'm saying. Others will disagree. I can understand how you have a little bit of everything in a SRT Jeep though. Just not for me is all. Wasn't trying to bash anyone that owns or wants one.

Back in 1999, I bought a Suzuki Hayabusa. Enough speed to last a lifetime. I don't ride anymore but the crazy insanity of speed that's affordable is in motorcycles, but then you start aging. I'll hit 50 in two years but any ride crotch rockets anymore because of some neurological issues. I do live vicariously through others.

The great this about any SRT is the fun of a drag strip or the blast at stoplights on roads with high speed limits. Unfortunately I moved Eastward so I don't have too many of those. I miss riding but people just don't look for motorcyclists here. SRT is a nice alternative when you want one.

Beside gas will eventually go up. Why not enjoy the fun while it's reasonable?
