    Suspension/Driveline/Brakes/Wheels/Tires
MAREKA! revived the thread, to ask questions about the lift kit, he has other posts asking about the kit. So it wasn't a total waste, the guy reviving the thread probably learned something...
  2. best battery?

    Grand Cherokee - WK2 -
I don't think you can look at it as replacing the water in the battery, I think it's more of a case of the acid and water is lost in the chemical reactions, the level drops and power is lost to plates only being exposed.... ....I think it's more the water being lost as hydrogen gas and...
  3. Quadralift -'13 Overland remove/repair options

    Suspension/Driveline/Brakes/Wheels/Tires
Here is the TSB for the kit.... http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_1700214.pdf One problem, you say you have QuadraLift, but the kit is for the Load Leveling Shocks, which everyone complains about as causing the clunk... I don't "think" the QuadraLift ever had the option for the Load Leveling...
  4. Dobinsons adjustable struts!!

    Suspension/Driveline/Brakes/Wheels/Tires
Can the spring perch be adjusted to lower the ride height from stock? Someone was lowering there post '16 WK2 and was looking for struts, it would be advantageous for those lowering if the front strut can just be adjusted to a lower ride height. Can the Damp Rate be adjusted on the strut? How...
  5. 2005 GC 5.7L 4x4 front end grinding on acceleration

    Trouble Shooting/Problems/Service
'05 JGC is the WK Platform, this is a WK2 Platform, you'll probably get better results if you post in the WK Forum. It could be your driveshaft or XFR Case... Which 4WD system do you have, or you should post that when you repost in the WK forum.... How old is the fluid in the XFR Case?
  6. Any Tricks to removing the Front Wheel Bearing/Hub Assembly???

    Suspension/Driveline/Brakes/Wheels/Tires
I'm changing out Shocks for Bilstein 5100's and front wheel bearing/hub assemblies.... My hub/wheel bearing is stuck tight in the steering knuckle... Driver's side, I've tried everything, including beating on it with a sledge and chisel.... I had a seized caliper on the wheel a few months...
  7. Rocky Road WK2 Wheel Spacers - Don't Buy

    Suspension/Driveline/Brakes/Wheels/Tires
...and if you're keeping the JK wheels, I'd limit yourself to .75" spacer.... ...I think a 1.5" change in offset is the most you can go reliably, you're JK wheels are .75 of that.... ...Someone with more spacers experience, please chime in and correct me... ...I've seen folks posting about...
  8. Coolant level question

    Tech Tips/DIY/How To
The O.M. will tell you to check the coolant level at the overflow bottle, because of liability, there people dumb enough to open a hot radiator at the pressure cap and burn themselves. But you really need to check coolant level when in the radiator when its cold. If there is a leak anywhere in...
  9. Where is the AC low pressure sensor located on 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo located?

    Trouble Shooting/Problems/Service
The 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee is the WK platform, this is the WK2 platform forum. You might get better results posting in the WK forum. I might be remembering wrong, but I think the WK AC is the same as the WK2.... If I'm remembering right, there is no low pressure switch, there is simply a...
  10. Rocky Road WK2 Wheel Spacers - Don't Buy

    Suspension/Driveline/Brakes/Wheels/Tires
The WK2 has independent suspension, both front and rear, technically you can't get Death Wobble.... ...you have to have a front live axle to get shimmy, and Death Wobble is the slang for front axle shimmy that goes divergent.... ...regardless I believe you, that you get vibration and...
  11. Lowering my 17 Limited WK2

    Suspension/Driveline/Brakes/Wheels/Tires
2016 and later had the suspension changes so that the front sway bar end links connected to the shock and not the LCA like the earlier WK2's. Most of the Aftermarket shocks have not welded the tab for the end link on the shock yet, like the OEM shocks have.... You have a 2017, the only shock...
  12. Quadra lift screwed i didn't use jack mode!

    Suspension/Driveline/Brakes/Wheels/Tires
I don't have the QL, several folks are pretty knowledgeable and say the jack mode is for safety. My guess if you have the vehicle on the jack and the vehicle tries to level itself, that would create motion that could knock it off the jack..... ....regardless, if someone more knowledgeable comes...
  13. Rocky Road lift kit

    Suspension/Driveline/Brakes/Wheels/Tires
You'd think they would have photos of the kit up for you too see what your getting.... The video link shows what the vehicle looks like after installing the kit.... Why are the upper control arms an option? What is different about their UCA's? Are they available to correct suspension geometry or...
  14. Replacing rear air bag in '11 overland?

    Trouble Shooting/Problems/Service
There is a reservoir in the system, it was put there because it is needed for normal operation, not as a means to avoid servicing when changing out air bags.... ...I imagine there is a procedure to purge the system of air for replacements of parts, since the system is suppose to work on...
  15. WK2 2x4 vs 4x4

    Grand Cherokee - WK2 -
I sold a RWD Jeep, despite it putting in the ad it is RWD people were showing up and being shocked it was RWD, I heard things like, "but all Jeeps are 4X4", "But you never said it was 4X2" ummm, what do you think RWD means? And the number of people that would have bought it thinking it was 4X4...
  16. Tip: Changing Motor Mounts

    Tech Tips/DIY/How To
Well, I'll be darned, I can't find the heat shields anywhere in the 2011 parts catalog. Sorry, perhaps they're not serviced?
  17. 2011 differential fluid.

    Tech Tips/DIY/How To
I'd have to review some of the literature, I think all oil has calcium and magnesium for anti-corrosion and wear additives, the phosphorous and sulfur compounds are hi-pressure additives that are needed in axles and gear boxes... ....zinc compounds I think do both, anti-wear and high pressure...
  18. Tip: Changing Motor Mounts

    Tech Tips/DIY/How To
I just re-used my heat shields, they were in fine shape, getting new ones does not add in anyway that I can imagine. Did you mangle your heat shield while doing the job? I'll try to look up the part number when I get home from work.
  19. Full suspension vs spacer lift

    Suspension/Driveline/Brakes/Wheels/Tires
You may know this, so if you do apologies ahead of time, but it is sounding like you're confusing body blocks with blocks.... I body lift is putting blocks between the body and frame, thus you don't change anything in the suspension and driveline, the body just looks higher and might give more...
  20. Poor radio reception?

    Audio/Visual/Navigation/Electronics
Although they've changed the antenna's over the m/y's, I think its the same type, its a powered antenna... ..one of the wires connected to it provides electrical power... ...the power comes from the head unit... There has been posts from those installing aftermarket radios about not getting...
