is available for the WK2 or whether this item works with our cars? I mean how many cigarette lighter harnesses can Jeep have between its models, especially for a part that is not seen and handled by the regular folk?
LOL. 'Could be many different variations, honestly. :)

ha ha exactly that. I remember trying to install auto lights on my WK1 a few years back. Ended up needing new cluster, SCWM, relay for rear fog hotwired and the sensor itself. Everyone on 'the other' forum were insisting its plug and play for sensor and multi-function. Maybe in USA but export had 37 different wiring harnesses so was far from a 5 minute job. No idea why they didn't just use a common harness and modules like the non-export vehicles but who am I to argue with their logic

I don't get it but wouldn't be the first time.
Will someone here explain to me what that harness kit with far as i can tell does not include a cigar lighter socket is all about?
Sometimes i can't see the forest for the trees.

This harness replaces the segment of the stock harness that feeds the cigarette lighter. It add a fused 12v power source for hardwired accessories, as well as powering the cigarette lighter. There is a serious lack of places to tap 12v power in the cabin of WK2.

Its the red wolf one I ordered. Got it on Amazon. I'm in UK so its not arriving til mid next week but will report back once its here. I've managed to tap the OBD easily enough but theres a few seconds delay between starting the car and that bit of the canbus waking up and due to what i'm using it for, its really annoying so figured I would give one of these a go.

As someone in the reviews said they had used it on their Ram, i'm hoping the connector is the same so took a punt on it.

Thanks for that, i get it now! (y)

I only had to install one electronic device my radar detector.
Just used the OEM cigar lighter socket in the cubby hole and snaked the power cord, down the console, under the dash, inside the A pillar weather stripping up to the detector. The cord is basically out of sight and out of the way.

But if i had to install another gismo like a CB radio i can see where that adapter harness would be the ticket.

I used a power tap and mirror mount from blend mount for my V1, super clean install. Just have to be careful when R/R rear view mirror as not to damage the windshield or mirror trim.

I use the 12v from the front cigarette lighter to power a Ham radio, extra usb outlets, and the ignition trigger for my Redarc DC/DC charger for dual battery set up. I originally tried to solder a wire onto the OEM connecter to the cig lighter and damaged it. I thought I was going to have to get a piece of the wiring harness from the junk yard to get my cig lighter socket functional again, but I think this will fix it. I plan on installing this weekend. I will post up here if there is any problems.

Here is another good thread to check out regarding 12v accessory wiring. It shows how to tap for it, but is useful here for access to install the adapters talked about in this thread.

Has anyone considered making their own harness? I'm having a hard time seeing where this is worth $30, outside of the time it saves trying to find plugs/terminals on mouser. I'm on the hunt for the plugs now so if i find them online i'll post (unless someone else fines them before me)

Edit: Found some part numbers
Manufacturer: Aptive (formerly Delphi)

Mouser Part #Manufacturer Part #Cost (as of 4/15/22)

rough estimate for expenses if you were to DYI as of 4/15/2022 before S&H: $4.42 - $4.67

I tried to modify my existing by soldering in a pigtail, but ended up ruining the plug to the back of the 12v socket. So, for me, it is a relief to find this. I wish I had known before. IMO well worth the $30 vs the time to search and build.

You're correct, searching has been a pain - I've spent the better part of 3 hours looking at drawings and modifying search terms just to get that table above. The sad part, after all that the male plug isn't stocked so more hunting is required.

BTDT. Sometimes the hunt is the fun.
