There are also some pigtails that are available online that go inline on the back of the the 12v port between the OEM harness to give you a 12v lead instead of tapping.

Just as an aside. Tapping into the CANBUS system while you are still under warranty COULD give the manufacturer a reason to void the warranty and/or give you a hard time should there be any electrical issues. That's why I used the cig lighter plug under the arm rest.

Is the 12v outlet part of the CANBUS? It had never occurred to me that they would be, as there is zero control over what gets plugged into one after the fact. Also besides potential warranty issues, CANBUS is very sensitive to any electrical "chatter."

yes, plug and play, unless you damaged the OEM side like I originally did. I was able to use this to repair my mistake. Others here have used this as intended
