A dude saw my Trailhawk for the first time and I invited him to sit in it, closed the door and I am standing beside, and then invited him to start it

It wouldn't start - the fob has to be inside.

Can unlock it from outside but won't start unless fob is inside -

Anyone care to confirm this as true?

seems pretty smart to me - have to call it Christine if this keeps up

Yes that is right. The FOB has to be inside or it will not start. Also if you leave the FOB inside you can't lock the doors with the push button on the outside door handle.

And if you are on one side with the FOB a person on the other side can not unlock the doors by touching the handle. Has to be on the same side as the FOB.

I have tested all of these.

Locating antennas are directional. The array of antennas can determine that FOBIK is inside cabin, outside cabin (within antenna range) or inside the trunk (on vehicles so equipped).

Cool - thanks

I must always remember to be nice around my "Christine" and to like whatever she plays for me on the Uconnect too

Nice Christine

Just some info regarding the lane departure system. As I recall the manual says the steering wheel will give you a physical warning. It's much more than that.

While driving on the freeway I loosened my grip (hands off the wheel but ready to react) and let the car slowly drift to the side of the lane. When it engages to actively tell you... It bumps the steering opposite of the direction you are drifting. I let it do this several time in a row. And it drifted back and forth and stayed in the lane. If it does it too much. I think it was 4 times... It give you a very VERY loud alarm that says "please put your hands on the steering wheel".

Also when passing an on ramp (where the strip veered away from the lane I was in) it seemed to gravitate toward the stripe that remained.

Really really smart system.

Really really smart system.
Thanks for the hands off =) description. That's totally cool! Guess I won't have to worry about my kids having to take my keys away when I get too old.

I have. Parallel parked excellently. It's a bit unnerving at first. But it did a great job.

I haven't gotten it to perpendicular park yet. Tried a few times but it couldn't detect the spot. I'll need to read more about it and how fat away you should be.

I was trying to demonstrate it yesterday and it gave me "active park assist temporarily unavailable" but I can find no explanation why. I wasn't moving or in any strange mode. All appropriate features were active at the time. I did a lap around the parking lot and turned it on and it activated. Unsure why that happened.

Ok Gurus, (I mean that with all respect)

I didn't drive for two days - Cherokee is sitting unlocked in garage and I jump in - foot on brake and push start and - nothing try three times - nothing

get out press fob lock - unlock get back in -it starts as normal (thinking to wake it up)

Then driving the "radio" keep cutting in and out going down the road "searching for signal" or some message like that. and then the shifts are very rough

In 2 miles I stop for 5 minutes and then it starts fine - shifts OK - radio OK

In 10 more miles it sits about 1 hour and doesn't respond to push to start
but on second try it does and then on more errands all works as normal

What do you all think that was all about (other than maybe getting PO'd about me calling it Christine? I guess it might be reading my posts)

That is odd. If it continues I would talk to the service department.
Yes. For Sure.

Thought it might be something like the tailgate - leave it open for a while in the garage, like I tend to do and it will only close manually (I actually read that in the manual too - after I had manually closed it though)

It almost sounds like a low voltage situation. Definitely get it noted.
yes it does - it shows 14 amps plus/minus charging at idle or driving though

most likely some kind of "operator error" as I can already hear the service department saying so I will wait and see

I would not take my vehicle until I checked it out on a lift in the service department - they are still foaming at the mouth over that one - them - their insurance co. and their pocket lawyers
