$87 bucks an hour, where do I sign up? Seems about right for dealer labor, although different vehicle, I had a hitch installed on my Ram a couple years ago by the dealer and bought the hitch from them as well for a total of $367.
$87/hr is cheap these days.

GMC dealer gets $109/hr and lexus gets $160.00/hr

I was quoted $800.00 for parts and labor. So I ordered my Jeep with it from factory. Same price but you get other goodies with it.

$195 for Labor?

How much was the hitch?

In case someone is interested they might like to know the total cost.

Hitch was $226 (bezel and hardware is included)
Plug $40
Receiver Cover $10

Dealer Install Labor $195 + Tax

Dropped it around 10:20 am today, got the call at 11:50 am that it was done and ready for pick up! invoice says 3 hours of labor at $65 though.

Drives you crazy. They have fixed hours on tasks. But you Pay Dealer Rates because you know that they know how to do things quick. And when they do it quicker. They pocket the difference. Grrrr.

Still not a bad price overall.

True, but work was flawless so didn't complain.
is it weird that I want a trailer hitch even though I have no real use for one? I don't know, it just looks plain back there without one. I mean, all of my other rigs had one, but not this.

Aren't u the same guy who was making fun of that decked out jeep because alot of his stuff had no real use?
Having the hitch receiver can be a very useful thing...there's a long thread here with all kinds of kewel stuff you can utilize it for. And the OEM hitch just plain looks nicer than an add-on that hangs below the bumper, IMHO.

Are you really hijacking this guys thread to try to call me out on a posting I had a few months ago? Troll much?

And yes, when compared to having a Jeep with 14 gas cans and a 50 caliber turret; I believe a trailer hitch is somewhat more understandable, especially when I trailer my harley every once in a while (long while, but still has been done).

I see you're on a bike too. That a 600 or 750?
It's a zx10r. I was only calling you out becuase u said u wanted it, but had no real use for it. If u would of said it was to tow my harley around then I would of left it at that.

I think you must live in a fairly low cost dealer hourly rate area unless they are giving you a break...

You got the parts and the instructions and the tools and a tiny modicum of mechanical talent to do it right?

That you even ask suggests that possibly you should consider the consequences to resale value, plus the hitch coming loose--although that is why God made LocTite

A .50 cal mount would be sort of naked looking without a 105mm Recoilless Rifle mounted under it. (The .50 was used as a spotting device on the 105)

i am told that the computer has to flashed to enable the lights to send the signal to the hitch plug. I think the hotch looks great too. I had a hotch on my highlander when i got rear ended. A straight hitch turned into a V and the frame and the hitch took most of the impact since it hit the hotch. would have been much worse on us if we didnt have one. I think hitches five the body alot of additional strength in accident.

im planning on putting a lighted step in the receiver so it will act as an additional brake light and step when i dont need it as a hotch.
emok, when my '06 Highlander Hybrid Limited was "sandwiched" on the local interstate while we were on the way to the airport for a vacation a number of years back, the dude in the Caddy behind me took a beating from my hitch-ball for sure :) , but more importantly, that extra structure reduced the level of damage in the back of my vehicle.

Now on the JGC, the OEM hitch receiver is structurally part of the bumper system, so it's not "adding" a whole lot of extra structure, but presumably, that part of the vehicle is already beefed up to handle the extra load of towing and tongue weight. 'Should still be helpful in the event of an accident.
